TERFs will just make shit up. It’s absolutely unhinged. Rowling also has them denying that Nazis killed trans people - they’ve started to claim that the Nazis issued “transvestite passes” (which the Weimar Republic did - famously not the Nazi government) based on a book of photographs someone published of Nazi soldiers doing drag.

The Nazis tortured and murdered trans people. Some did drag because they thought it was funny, heck the US military did official drag shows during WW2. People do drag because it’s funny, that doesn’t mean they accept trans people. It’s unhinged how willing people are to lie and spread the lies of others in order to justify their hate.

Yep doing drag shows because it’s funny is the opposite of accepting trans people. It mocks them, and women too.

It’s a performance art, and like any other form of performance it can be used to be shitty, but it’s not inherently mocking of women or trans people. Some of the stuff I’ve seen on RuPaul has made me cringe, but I’ve also seen queens that dress up like church marms and do a Betty Bowers/old school Colbert skewering of the Christian right.

how willing people are to lie and spread the lies of others in order to justify their hate.

It’s simply the required narrative not to call themselves monsters. The bigger the horror, the bigger the lie.

It’s exhausting, because once you debunk them on something, they just move on to something else. It’s easy to just make up shit, it takes work to prove it wrong. There’s no guarantee anyone sees the debunking either.

Since it’s beyond you, I’ll take the time to explain. Different people have different values. Some people think it’s interesting to pay attention to the intersection of culture and politics… so they take their energy that isn’t devoted to the necessary tasks of staying alive and devote some of it to following this.

Some people take that energy and participate in online communities. Instead of devoting that energy to that intersection, they post and comment. Its their energy and their value system.

Some people aren’t interested in either. I hope this simple answer has bought it into your range of understanding.

Just here to explain the downvotes: “ChatGPT, come up with a response to someone who dislikes celebrities, use a touch of sarcasm and make the tone slightly condescending in a plausibly deniable way. Make it generic enough it could apply to almost any hobby, in order to trivialize their point”.

Sincerity comes off as sarcasm to the insincere.

Saying my response was created by chatgpt is dismissive and not genuine critique.

Again just explaining it and not disagreeing. I actually literally asked ChatGPT to come up with a prompt to generate your reply, here is the prompt:

Write a reply that is mildly sarcastic but still informative, starting with “Since it’s beyond you, I’ll take the time to explain.” The reply should explain that different people have different values, describe how some people devote energy to following the intersection of culture and politics, others to online communities, and some to neither. End with a slightly condescending line implying the explanation should now be within their understanding.

Well damn. When I wrote this " I hope this simple answer has bought it into your range of understanding." I didn’t have any intention of it being condescending. When I read it, I read as up boeat with a little happiness.

I ran your prompt through ChatGPT this is what it came up with:

“Oh, I get it — you don’t like celebrities. That’s fair. I mean, some people don’t like sports, others don’t like cooking, and there are even people who think reading is a waste of time. It’s all just hobbies, right? Yours just happens to be not caring about certain humans other people find interesting. Perfectly valid. Almost a hobby in itself, really.”

I see how that is similar. I just would have never used the last sentence.

Pascal is loved and will not tolerate people talking shit about his trans sister.

Rowling at this point subsists on a half assed crumbling potter legacy she’s using to fund transphobia. She went after tennant and since that backfired bigtime her calvary of fuckos are now trying Pascal. It will end just as badly and they will never learn

Some people also don’t like it when someone is “overexposed” and in everything. They liked it when he was on the rise, in Game of Thrones and then he broke out with Mandalorian. People were happy because he played the role keeping the helmet on 99% of the season…especially flying in the face of the Halo series a while later.

But because he was now “popular” and appearing in more films and shows, this is bad now.

For some anyway. Not me. I love him still.

I personally don’t get it. He’s successful. It wasn’t handed to him like some nepo baby. He worked hard and did great jobs to achieve where he’s at.

I honestly don’t get it. You can have someone like Taylor Swift who releases an album every couple weeks and if you speak ill of her then you’ve essentially become Satan. So it’s ok for one person to be constantly in the publics face but it’s not ok for another person?

I didn’t think this was true until I encountered this from my sister-in-law. I just mentioned that I didn’t care for her music and suddenly I became a misogynist because there’s no other possible reason for not liking the output of the greatest singer and songwriter in human history. I countered with a very long list of women artists whose music I did like and she said those women all make masculine music. I was like “Kate Bush and Tori Amos make masculine music?”

Because a lot of people take abuse and turn right around and dish it out to somebody below them. Case in point: Israel vs. Palestine. Much love to Pedro for not perpetuating that cycle, though.

I didn’t recognize the name either until @[email protected] said who he is, after which my brain cells told me that i knew that before. e: but i’m notoriously bad at remembering actors names and faces - i often do not care enough to remember them, even in stuff i like; if i remember single actors, i stored that information primarily per cultural osmosis.

He’s a pretty famous actor. With two popular shows running simultaneously (sort of) that contain him.
