I would prefer to find an operating system I can support that is developed by people who are generally kind, however I find the behavior of many of the top Linux/*BSD devs to be… abhorrent.
Are there any real alternatives that are led by nicer people?
Kernel Development is a cruel and unusual practice.
I’d be surprised if Linus Torvald wasn’t a massive meany.
He used to be. He realized eventually and has massively improved.
You’re kidding, right?
People are people, we all get to be assholes at least occasionally.
People who are experts at this kind of level often don’t have great social skills. That’s just how it works - in every field.
What exactly is the problem and where are you currently? What would be the purpose of the OS you want to use?
open means transparent. Sometimes folks don’t want to see the sausage get made.
Humans are generally quite awful & even the kindest nicest people are terrible sometimes. Put together hundreds of humans & It’s guaranteed some of them will be awful+ & drama is guaranteed even if everyone is above average nice, so no there is no such usable operating system.
We’re with you, but sadly no is the likely answer.
Most people have been abusive one time or another, though they can choose not to be any more.
Many, especially tech and foss obsessives, choose not to change though.
Heck, they even abuse or are horrible to other well established devs, so those devs leave.
To stop this from happening would require a restructuring of society, with restorative and transformative justice as the goal.
So it’ll likely be a long time before it happens, since tech and foss obsessives are usually not interested in such processes.
Solaris?
Haha 😄
