Children in the Gaza Strip are facing a lethal, hidden threat from the remnants of war, including unexploded ordnance and devices intentionally disguised as toys, according to Gaza’s Director General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Muneer Alboursh.

Alboursh issued a powerful condemnation of the practice, stating that the deliberate placement of these devices poses an acute and ongoing danger to the youngest residents of the territory.

According to the Ministry of Health, items such as dolls, teddy bears, and colorful balls are being used to lure and injure children.

“When a child reaches for the ‘pretty toy,’ the horrific truth explodes in their face,” he wrote.

im reading 2 different stories here. one saying that toys were rigged deliberately, and another saying its unexploded bombs that kids have touched while digging through the rubble to find belongings. while this is fucking heartbreaking to hear these kids now have life changing injuries, both stories set very different stories, with one being very gruesome, if true.

Occasionally I come across a headline that makes me start crying. This is one of them.

I believe that Israel soldiers are perfectly capable of this atrocities, as they have shown in the past and also reported by several humanitary organisations. But we have to take this news with a grain of salt, since there is no other news that confirms it.

The World Press Freedom Index only uses safety as one part of their score. It’s not a refutation of the statement you’re replying to.

But since you brought them up, here’s their breakdown of:

"In 2024, Palestine became the most dangerous country in the world for journalists. Close to 200 reporters were killed by the Israeli army in Gaza in the first 18 months of war, including at least 42 slain while doing their job, and dozens more detained in Israeli prisons. Trapped in the enclave, journalists in Gaza have no shelter and lack everything, including food and water. In the West Bank, journalists are routinely harassed and attacked by both settlers and Israeli forces, but repression reached new heights with a wave of arrests after 7 October, when impunity for crimes committed against journalists became a new rule. "

  • How will they spin it this time? Last time with the pagers it was the most ingenious James Bond spy maneuver most of the western MSM had ever seen, while in reality it’s just terrorism.

Idek that they try to spin it anymore. Yeah, corporate media spun the pagers, but iirc Zionists were just like “we did this cool thing, like James Bond!”

The Gaza Health Office said it and they didn’t cite your claims, so it’s 100% confirmed and true.

If anyone wants to claim otherwise, Israel should let journalists into Gaza to prove otherwise.

Israel doesn’t get the luxury of banning journalists and then claiming that there is no way of asserting the truth.

Aren’t they barring journalists from entering Gaza, or has that changed? Because then I’d be very inclined to believe anything against the oppressors.

The source is strongly anti-Israel to the point of not recognizing it as a country. Given this bias you should look for other sources to support the claims made here.

A neutral source isn’t calling Israel “Palestine”. An extremely biased source would use that terminology. In absence of a better quality source backing this claim it makes no sense to cede it credibility.

You mean Palestine, the country that existed where Israel is before European Zionist colonized and genocided it. Yeah, Israel is stolen land just like the US, you are feeding into narrative legitimising their claims which they use to further their genocide. The land IS Palestine.

Which countries exiled Jewish people except the French colonies? The vast majority of them left voluntarily from threats created by Israel.

                  “I’m fleeing from religious persecution.”

“I will now religiously persecute the Indigenous people of the land I fled to.”

Even if every single Israeli fled Islamic states, they’ve been pretty eager to do the exact same things they fled from. So why should I give them any more sympathy than the supposed evil Islamic regimes they escaped? They’re just as hateful and intolerant of other people existing. You cease being the victim the instant you inflict the same abuse on others when the power dynamic flips.
