    A great actor.

    One of his best lines IMHO was in Apocalypse Now as Kilgore:

    “Someday, this war is going to end.”

    And you wait for the punchline, until you realize he is actively enjoying the fighting, and the war ending is a bad thing. A shockingly good portrayal of a one-man military industrial complex.

    Shit, I know he was old but it’s damn disheartening seeing all these actors I grew up watching on the screen die. Especially since I haven’t a clue who any new actors are. I couldn’t even tell you what the newest movies are out right now, because Hollywood is NOT what is used to be. RIP Mr. Duvall, you are a legend that will never die!

    I mostly remember him as the gruff editor in 1994’s The Paper, with a bagel up his ass.

    I came to learn recently that the actors and production team sat in at The Boston Globe to get the vibe right. And holy hell, did they nail it.
