I’m getting AI-hate fatigue, like there’s a lot of valid reasons to hate AI based on how it’s been implemented and how it’s fucking with markets regarding PC components. But it’s gotten also to a point where, just the minor things in where AI actually has a use in, it gets scrutinized anyways because it’s the norm and cool thing to hate it.
US based world order shoving capitalism down our throats and corrupting every civil achievement after WWII.
people being stupid and thinking they are geniuses who are the first person to ever discover something or that their passion for a very popular thing makes them unique and special and that anyone who doesn’t also like that thing is stupid and bad.
these people will also argue that any facts or objective statements that disprove them are ‘wrong/bad/fake’. and they will push their own alternative set of facts to ‘prove’ you wrong.
that would include PC gamers. like, it’s cool you can get 250fps dude, but really, for 99.9% of people who game, nobody can see the difference, or cares. it’s mostly just you justifying to yourself it was ‘worth it’ to spend $1000s for bragging rights. but a lot of hobbies are like this.
Lemmy’s obsession with the justice that will come from the Epstein files.
Enough already, it’s not changing minds of people who would all have gone to the island of they could have afforded it.
It’s like the people who want Trump to go to jail.
Nah, he’s going to die comfortably before ever seeing an ounce of justice.
im doing too much so im beginning to feel burnt out:
my job is getting more and more difficult and its starting to mess up my efficiency and personal metrics, im trying to begin a business so going through those motions is a hassle (duh lol), im involved in my local community with an extremely important and critical role (but thankfully my role only lasts for a year and I have about two weeks left before I am finished 🙂). all while attepting to have a personal life while keeping my family close…
add in trying to shove in some quality time for myself, doing the thing I love to do unwinding video games lol (addicted to arc raiders and getting back into tekken 8)
thankfully, I am going away on vacation this friday for awhile with my girlfriend for my first vacation in over a year and a half. hoping the good vibes will get me back on track 🙏
“AI” being used as a replacement word for “Software”
“DEI” and “Woke” being used to describe anything minisculely left of Trump
“Crypto Currency” being toted as a viable replacement of fiat currency
“Block Chain” being proposed for use in ANYTHING!
Looking for a job. Studying for professional certifications. Any day I wake up.
The constant barrage of insane statements and actions from the current US administration. It’s exhausting (by design).
Say what you want about the Biden Administration. It did since good things, and it did since bad things. But it just ran the country in a mostly quiet way. And if nothing else, it was nice to not hear crazy shit from it every fucking day.
Say what you want about the Biden Administration. It did since good things, and it did since bad things.
Even something like that, which seems reasonable on the surface, is itself highly skewed. Since there’s no FV counterpart, you can go to r/WhatBidenHasDone and see a deeply impressive list of accomplishments. The body of presidential scholars rate him highly, equally impressively.
So where does the ‘Biden was a so-so president’ sentiment come from, anyway? I’m not entirely sure, but it seems to me the news media has some real explaining to do, just as they’re not remotely going after the current admin nearly as much as they should.
Think about what an utter disaster this last election was-- the nation collectively giving up on what was a quality administration, in order to elect arguably the worst in history, with every bit of evidence pointing that way ahead of time.
I agree with you on Biden’s accomplishments (at least in the first half of his term - he kind of tailed off in the last year or two). But I know some people feel very strongly that he didn’t get anything of note done.
My point is that regardless of whether he got a lot of things done, and regardless of either you after with what he did… he and his staff did it quietly and calmly. And as a result America (and the world) weren’t flooded with insane crap. And I really really miss that.
quietly and calmly.
Seriously. And we’d already had a huge taste of the chaos of the 1st Orange administration, and somehow decided… that life was too boring or something, without it.
But I know some people feel very strongly that he didn’t get anything of note done.
Those people are just ridiculous to me, and I apologise for kind of sideways lumping you in there. I think it’s more accurate to say that Biden’s was generally a strong admin, but with some terrible failures in terms of appointing Garland as AG and not doing enough to prosecute those who badly needed to be prosecuted. In short, not taking seriously-enough the existential threat of what wound up following.
agreed. Ai itself is good such as helping with diagnosis and running simulations for theories.
Ai art is entirely plaigerism and it is completely misused there.
I have the same disappointment with plastic use. Great in Medicine and other sciences and technology. Completely misused in almost everything else for every day use.

People making Trump be in my every day life.
Every day of our lives since summer 2015. It’s been almost 11 years of CONSTANT TRUMP. The immutability of the coverage of Trump was my first indication way back when that we were headed for something new.
Umm, Trump is doing that himself by literally trying to become a dictator. He is already trying to stop the midterms by any means necessary. I also wish we lived in a time where things were I could not care about politics to this degree, but things are going to shit so fast. It’s important to talk about what it happening so we can begin trying to stop it, and we need to stop it.
…there’s a lot of valid reasons to hate AI based on how it’s been implemented and how it’s fucking with markets regarding PC components.
I’m completely cool with that kind of dislike, plus the general annoyance with “AI slop,” but the knee-jerk hatred for LLM’s is where I draw the line.
In reality, they’re sometimes a waste of time, and can indeed contribute to AI slop if used that way, but I’ve also found them to be hugely useful on various tasks, probably with something like a ~70% success rate on the issues I ask for help with. Whatever else, they’re some robust tools, never seen before, and will only get better.
EDIT : haha, and let the haters hate… whatever they think they’re hating. 🙃
I treat LLMs not as god-like oracles of pure truth, but rather as sounding boards to get me to consider things that I hadn’t previously. Like, I was just doing some research on home warranties, and I got some potentially valuable information that I then independently verified.
When I don’t quite know what question to ask about the thing I want to know about, an LLM can open those pathways for me.
I most often use GPT5.2 as an enhanced search engine. It’s very good about understanding nuance in terms of the parameters I’m searching on (way, way better than Google, for example), and can pull together a sort of ‘report’ from many different sources.
In short terms, people controlling me (KYC, massive vigilance, 5 eyes, burocracy…)
