I don’t get it, what is the appeal?

The Confederacy were a bunch of racist assholes that wanted to be able to subjugate people for their race. They lost.

So why would anyone want to even be associated with a loser racist club, let alone be so fixated on it that you tattoo your back full with it…

Once this is over, can the US please make that first amendment a little bit more sensible? Yeah, it’s fine to talk about Hitler, it’s not fine to start neo nazi groups, or saying that Hitler was right (except about killing Hitler, he was totally right). Similarly, I believe that the confederate flag should be prohibited except for education like schools and museums.

Yes, I want freedom of expression, but I think we’ve arrived at a point in time where we can safely say that allowing people to say anything positive about fascism never ends well.

Similarly, I want a law that needs organizations should always be factual. I know, I know, facts are hard and bias, up to a certain level, will always be there but there is a HUGE difference between any US news organization from the 70s and Fox News. Fox News is a propaganda platform, period. It should be prohibited, fuck all first amendment arguments about this. You can’t allow somebody to constantly lie to millions of people, it will end badly. News organizations should also be 100% independent. Put an independent news foundation funded by the government that can play journalists to make real news and inform people, for example.

Took me a while to realise it’s not the American flag. Although, there’s not much of a difference these days.

Everything about this image checks out with current events, including the parts off camera. Nobody looks back like that unless something’s happening back there.

Side question: why do they call it a “Jerry” can?

Edit: looked it up. It’s a ww2 British slur for Germans

      Edit 2: wondered about “Jerry-Rigged” https://www.merriam-webster.com/grammar/jerry-built-vs-jury-rigged-vs-jerry-rigged-usage-history

Tldr: MW’s summary, in order from newest term to oldest:

Jerry-built means “built cheaply and unsubstantially.” Jerry-rigged means “organized or constructed in a crude or improvised manner.” Jury-rigged means “constructed or arranged in a makeshift fashion.”

Yeah basically during the start WW2 the allies largely used fuel bladders, then after awhile allied forces started to steal German fuel cans since they were objectively better than anything the allies and for that purpose. The name Jerry can just kinda stuck.
