On the contrary. The data exists, they’re just not aggregating it into a graph. Otherwise your posts and comments would disappear the moment you submit them.
The data is certainly there. The best way to read it is that they specifically make no attempts to analyze it.
Which becomes a bit of a moot point considering that with the fediverse some rogue instance can collect and do with your data whatever they want.
Still a pretty good joke.
I mean there is probably not much more data than what is visible to the normal user. The other data is probably not stored if not needed for using the app
Which gives a nice twist to the use of the word “intentionally”
Doesn’t have to be the moment, just that they would disappear after some amount of time that is less than a year (so they can’t make a year in review page).
I seem to recall PieFed does delete certain topics (memes?) after some period of time, perhaps configurable per instance.
Remind me not to switch to piefed since they apparently delete all posts comments, saves and votes immediately.

The real Lemmy Rewind is found by looking at your profile and seeing what you did all year. 😌
Bonus: Everyone else can see it, too!
At least my subscriptions are semi-private, right?
Afaik, those aren’t public; but it would have to be stored somewhere, and admins likely could see it. At the most minimal, the devs.
Not the devs, right?! Unless they’ve added a backdoor.
oh shit everyone will find all the dumbassery i been up to
people here seem to be mixing “track” and “collect” here. Of course they collect data, otherwise the site wouldn’t function. But they don’t track you as in process your data.
It shouldn’t be too hard for any instance admin to write a script to compile any user’s 5 most liked, disliked, controversial posts, and 5 biggest upvoters/downvoters.
Yeah, this is just plain wrong and lazy. Of course they collect that data, so at least they could make some cool analyses.
I wouldn’t mind such a feature if it were on-demand, with the option to delete, and limit its visibility. I think it’d be a nice addition to Lemmy so long as it’s user-focused.
“I intentionally did not write this sentence, so that you don’t get the wrong idea.”
“I did naht.”
