I use mine as an always on syncthing node. After people on here told me last time that i was inviting death, i put it into a ceramic plant pot with a lid and set it on the balcony with a long charging cable. Its still in reach of my wifi so it works perfectly fine. If it burns, it burns outside with nothing flammable near it :)
If you instead connect it to a portable solar charger + powerbank, you could even remove the grid connection and just put it in a sealed plastic box outside.

5·5 days agoIt would be amazing if firefox integrated tor routing so that more people can use onionshare out of the box without needing a separate piece of software. It the easiest secure and private way to share stuff, but only if the other side already uses tor browser.

There are plenty of old applications that just do not run on windows 10/11 anymore at all. Wine and emulation is the only choice left for those.

If you seriously think that there is no moral difference between someone being sexually abused and them not being sexually abused then maybe you should be in prison for all our safety.
Its good training for arguing with real life people at least. Because coming up with a good comeback quickly is hard when you have never formulated your thoughts about a subject properly. I think often people misunderstand things at first and then when someone points out their mistake, they realize that they were wrong, but dont want to admit it, so they just double down. I have been that person before too tho…
A privacy preserving location sharing system that shows you a map can only work with offline maps. If the maps arent offline, then that means the server delivering the map data knows where you are.
I dont know of an offline maps based live location app. There are plenty of non google apps that do this in a non private way as a primary or secondary function. Matrix/Element can do it and there are apps on fdroid (ToLoShare for example), that do it. But all of those have to somehow depend on a server that delivers the map “tiles” (chunks of map data near you) to show you a map. So they are all technically capable of tracking you.
The only really private way to do this is to share the coordinates through a secure channel in an automated way and then whenever you need it you open those coordinates in you offline maps app (CoMaps for example)
