Your religion sets rules for you. I don’t practice your religion. You don’t get to inflict your beliefs on me. Fuck off.

I think it was directed at the second party. But also shouted at the boundless void in the hope that someone, something, anything with the power to make things make sense hears us. Just like most of my posts.

i feel that way sometimes. one time i was tracking a little group of 5 deer (2 female, one male, and two 5-month-old fawns), and i had lost them. i said “shit.” and somebody said “what’s wrong?” to which i replied “i lost the deer i was tracking.” “hmmm.” said the voice sympathetically. “yes, that will happen sometimes. no matter.” i then realized that somebody was talking to me when i shouldn’t be talking to people nobody knew about my secret place in the woods. “wait.” i said turning around. it was a bird. “yes?” the bird cocked his head. it was a cardinal. my patron bird. “is something the matter?” “yes,” i said, “you’re a talking bird.” the bird twitched his feathers. “is that a problem?” i shook my head. “no, i just was surprised. ive never seen a talking bird before.” “well, now you have. but im here for a very special reason.” “what reason is that?” “Extremely special. but, before i tell you, I must tell you my name.” “my name is Red.” dun dun dunnnnnnnnn its actually a story I’m writing so tune in for more soon

Now imagine being bombarded by this nonsense for 12 years during your formative years, because I don’t have to imagine.

my dad believed it for 50 sum years. He was told to get married and have kids, my mom knew he was gay when they got married. When she outed him last year we ALL knew (well, thought he was bi anyways).

Now he’s fully out, my mom hasn’t talked to me in about 10 months, and I have boobs now.

Honestly, realizing how painfully masculine the average straight man is, is so much worse of a realization than discovering my own dad is gay.

Let’s say, for the sake of argument, being gay is a sin. Isn’t one of Jesus’ more well known lessons “let he who has never sinned throw the first stone” or something like that? Like his main thing is forgiving people and providing unconditional love. I’d say focusing on someone’s perceived sin is straight up non-Christian

we can’t control who we love

    yes we can

The biggest self report. It means they are gay/bi and choosing to repress it. They think everyone feels that way.

If what Jesus did or did not say is different depending on what religion you subscribe to, you’d think we could then make the logical conclusion that some portion of what we ascribe to Jesus was not actually what he said, and vice versa…

Critical analysis of their own dogma isn’t something the religious do. Their scripture is literally god’s word, everyone who believes otherwise is either a heretic or an outright pagan, that’s all the insight required in their worldview.

One of the reason I love Deconstruction Zone. The host has degrees in biblical studies, reads biblical Hebrew and Greek, and was a pastor for 20 years. When Christians complain about “but the context” he drags them through the context face first.

Fun fact: the “love your neighbor” bit literally only refers to those actually close to you. I don’t remember the exact word but it’s generally accepted to refer to only Hebrews. Also a few verses later God tells you exactly who you’re allowed to enslave (anyone from foreign nations).
