That is not how you wake a sleeping student.

You do it by putting a sheet of complex questions in front of them, and then loudly saying “you may now turn your papers over, you have 1 hour to complete the exam”.

Jokes aside, if a student is sleeping in class, you probably want to have a word with the DSL to check up on them after class. Students only sleep if they’re exhausted or you’re really crap at teaching - get one of their mates to wake them quietly without drawing too much attention.

Idk…I slept through history class in high school because I just didn’t give a shit about the class. It just wasn’t a subject that interested me and I was a sleepy kid lol. I don’t blame the teacher for not being engaging enough. I just wasn’t interested in the subject like I was with my science classes. I still did fine in school too even though I slept through quite a few subject haha.

That’s just wrong lol, I slept in school and uni for so many reasons. Mostly long nights, or just a lack of interest in participating in school.

You just repeated the same two reasons they gave like they were different.

There are always a few pupils dancing out of the line. It is kind of cheap to blame the teacher for them not willing to participate in the lessons. Don’t you think so?

And my long nights where probably due to things I were more interested in, as in going to school. Or because I were meeting friends and having alcohol with them… being exhausted sounds like there is a severe problem the pupil is not taking part in the lesson. I were just lazy and had better stuff to do, beside school.
One could argue thats a severe problem, I think it worked just fine for me, and that it is somewhat normal around that age.

My partner has narcolepsy and she didn’t find out until a couple years after she got it. I suppose it’s unlikely but the student here could have it.

Because you don’t touch other humans like that. It’s not ok.

Contrary to popular belief, children are people.

I have seen way too many teachers during my time in school that looked for and created opportunities to physically interact with teenage girls. If that is actually a teacher i would even consider suing for sexual harassment.

That suit would go nowhere because there clearly is no sexual intent. It might go differently if you sued for harassment as this is very weird behavior whose intent is to humiliate

I also disagree. Cancel culture should not apply to everyone all the time. That may be a family member in their class.

I had a teacher who kept a coil spring from a car’s suspension in the closet. When someone fell asleep in class, they would drop it into the concrete floor. Holy shit that was a crazy noise.
