English/German as always. Embedded link:

I like to hide some treats for my 12 y/o Miez. Can you spot the one she has yet missed on top of the dart wall behind the milk carton? I don’t know how I managed to throw and land it up there, and definitely would fail many times if I tried.

Edit: useful green circle:

Loving you cat: Spend hundreds in cat toys and furniture.

Truly loving your cat: Still gives them the cardboard box because you know what’s up

The boards have always been multi-functional. In my old apartment I had crazy-high ceilings, like about 4 meters, so they were really good for accoustics. Plus they hold the indirect lighting obviously.

I’m by no means an artist, but I’ve done quite some UI/UX design, so I’ll try to give my 2 cents about colors here. You may or may not agree since i usually try to go for simpler / pragmatic approaches (not to confuse my users lol) and your painting has a lot of depth to it:

        passepartout

The most obvious choice, also matching your frame, would be just plain white, but it may be a harsh contrast to the darkness of your painting (which may be preferable). Choosing an off-white / linen color may soften the contrast and match the feathers a little better. I would avoid a black one since the subject already is framed in black for the most part, and it would kind of swallow the painting or make it appear smaller than it is. So gray was chosen, maybe going for availability at the moment of framing. For this exact one though, it may give off “document container in an 80s office” vibes at first glance since it seems to have a yellowish / greenish tint to it (may also just be the camera / lighting). So maybe even a fresh (more neutral / less saturated / darker / lighter / maybe even light blueish) gray one after all.

        frame

Depending on what the painting means to you, you may also look for a new frame. I think a black neutral frame would fit pretty well. Maybe even a more pompous one in a dark wood tone or golden, but that could get too much pretty fast since your painting is pretty detailed already.

Spoiler to my username below. Looking at your username, you look like a “bad dog” to me lol (one of my favourite movies tbh). It’s just an alter ego on a niche internet platform eventually though (:

        passepartout

(as in french ‘passer’ = going, ‘partout’ = through everything) mostly is two things to me:

        • An inner frame of cardboard, which is making the viewer focus the painting itself, shifting focus away from the outside world (especially the frame), while also following more pragmatic approaches like fitting it into frames of different sizes and protecting it from sticking to the glass.
        • A general / master key, “going through everything” so to speak, through every door, gateway or even cryptographic measure applied.

Combining these, you could get a lot of things, which is also just an expression of what I find interesting or important.

        • A general real world application to “encryption”, apart from the cryptographic one in IT, which helps people to grow their personality since being able to do things for yourself covertly is a big part of developing more nuanced parts of your identity (see the top bar of the passepartout in my profile picture, it has a universal quantifier and a lock in it, as in “secrecy / encryption for everyone”). Identity by definition means seperating something or yourself from others though, while by sharing everything of yourself at any time you may lose your identity completely, so moderation is key i guess.
        • A “frame” creating a distance or seperating yourself from the outside world for a moment, which also lets you take a step back in a current world where enforced instant reactions to everything are the new normal. Taking your time to rethink news, messages, topics of interest from time to time might change your perception and let you react differently instead of falling for clickbait and populism. Nonviolent communication, although a little dated in some regards, aims to help communicate pragmatically and understand the world and people around you instead of condemning them for what can be read between the lines.
        • A “master key” might also be interpreted as a general right and implementation to access unaltered plain information and empiric / scientific infered knowledge. Although the end user / receiver will (hopefully) always be responsible to interpret a given piece information, a “frame” or barrier protecting netural information might help a lot. Since I like the topic of identity, I’d recommend reading “Identity: A very short introduction”. Or one of the other ~800 very short introductions of the Oxford university press, I think they are kinda neat.

Most of the cats I’ve known would just fling themselves to the ground regardless of height, so its a little funny to me to see one actual take a safe path down

Her brother is like that. He goes down one stair then flings himself onto one of the couches. Whether you’re in the way or not.

Wow, Miez has a gorgeous home, with plenty of space to play and look down on others from above! So nice of her to let you live there!

    Vielen Dank!

I swear every time I see Meiz pop up in my feed, OP’s added something new for the run.

That, or I have a shitty memory. Either way kitty is living the high life!
