My fave was the nobel sword or something from the Oracle Zelda games which could shoot a really satisfying beam of light to damage enemies from further away

Reminded me of mini Hyper Beams from Pokemon except you didnt have to recover or charge

Also love the triple Lyonel bow from BOTW. That thing fucking slappz

The rope grappling hook weapon from Just Cause 2. You can move with it. You can attach things to enemies with it. Just play the game if you haven’t - so good!

Later games made you able to make more connections etc so you could haul bigger stuff. So it got even better in a way. But JC2 was the best game of them

My opinion is kind of invalid, since this is pretty much the only game I play that has items, but well, the Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup devs decided to add guns, uh sorry, hand cannons to the game, a few versions ago.

It’s a game with swords and magic, and they did make the guns rare to find, but when you do find one, it’s always a blast (pun intended).

The guns are really powerful, but also noisy which means they attract enemies. And they spit out clouds of smoke, which can obstruct your vision when you shoot too much, allowing enemies to draw close. So, it’s just a really fun risk-reward loop.

I’ll pick one not listed yet, I think all of Quake’s weapons rank pretty high for me, but the Quad Nailgun had this satisfying punchy sound that was always fun.

The double-barrelled shotgun from Doom II. The power, spread, and generally plentiful ammo allows you to say “fuck you” in a loud, brash way every time the trigger is pulled.

Controversial opinion, the Doom 64 sound is far meatier.

There is always this shitty “attack +1” knife you start out with in an RPG. It’s kind of symbolic, I like it, it’s like the door to all other weapons and stories and quests and so on.

The Groovitron from Ratchet and Clank. It interacts with every enemy and boss, is pretty powerful under the right conditions, and is the right kind of silly.

Oh man, Ratchet and Clank had some awesome weapons. I remember the first time using the mini-nuke after upgrading it from one of the early game weapons putting a huge smile on my face

    The polymorph wand from Realmz.

You could polymorph just about anyone or anything. I polymorphed one of my party members into a red dragon with a misclick and the dragon proceeded to kill the entire party.

Gravity gun at Half Life 2. Flack cannon at Unreal Tournament. Ripper on Duke Nukem 3D. There’s plenty to choose from, but they’re often only favourites on the type of game they’re in (or spesifically for that game).

Oh man, the flak cannon was a shotty by a different name!

I’m surprised you didn’t go for the Redeemer. Ramming that into someone’s boat race was satisfying as fuck.
