    Good:

    1. My takeaway is due in 10 minutes.
    2. I convinced my wife to let me buy a 65" 4k TV and we’ve now ordered the sofas to go in front of it. They should arrive next week.
    3. My kids are old enough to walk to school on their own, so once I’ve got the system down pat I can set my alarm for 08:30.

    Bad:

    1. Reform is likely to be the next UK government and they’re a. fascist, b. incompetent, c. anti-intellectual, d. anti-everything that isn’t a mirror of themselves. And they’re a bunch of cunts.
    2. Russia is pushing NATO’s buttons hard right now. I’m too old to be drafted but not too old to die in a nuclear fireball.
    3. Fallout 5 won’t be published. Bastards!

    Bad:

    1. The spread of anti-intellectualism and religious priority on top of crippling free speech will be quite a mess
    2. LGBTQ will be the minority of target for where the jews were in the 1930s/1940s. Expecting a 2015 Supreme Court overturn.
    3. If the Republicans, any or all of them, lose mid-terms, there will be a wave of “RECOUNT” or “RIGGED” rally cries from their voterbases i.e more riots on their behalf, while proclaiming it was caused by the left.

It’s hard to think of these things, but I’ll take a swing at it.

    The Good

    1. The human race will endure.
    2. Finance will become slightly more democratized and less centralized to the US, as the post-tariff trade agreements start to take effect. (And best to put a portion of your retirement in international funds before then.)
    3. AI regulation in the US and internationally will likely have progressed (though in the US, only at the state level), which is a good thing as we’re beginning to see the negative effects of LLM’s on cognition and mental health.

    The Bad

    1. The human race will endure.
    2. If history holds, Dems will take the House or Senate in the US, but it won’t matter because they too legislate for the billionaires and not the working poor. (Clinton, Dubya, Obama, Donald, and Biden all had control of Congress and lost it at the mid-terms.)
    3. With TikTok likely becoming nationalized in the US, radicalization of GenZ is going to continue to get worse, and the effects on national discourse and society in general will increase in toxicity.

    Good:

    1. I have high hopes that Nepal’s new government will bring positive change
    2. Crispr science combined with some new good results with protein models may help us develop some incredible new health technology
    3. In the financial world, less reliance on the US, and a shift away from usd in general would be a huge boon to the international community

    Bad:

    1. Massive economic instability worldwide, inflation everywhere, people will have an even worse time affording things once the worlds petrol distribution eases up
    2. taiwan’s troubles are likely to pick up the pace with more international events to smokescreen their bully to the west
    3. The transition to ai will likely push more of our society to crime, and lower the payment bar for many professions

I remember hearing about CRISPR a few years ago but never really heard anything about it ever again. What’s the progress now? I heard trials slowed down cuz you can’t conduct it on humans, but then we wouldn’t know if its safe on humans

    Good

    • Personalized medicine means diseases are being cured at a rapid pace
    • The great pacific garbage patch will be cleaned up!
    • High speed rail is to start service in central California

    Bad

    • The war in Ukraine and Sudan are set to continue
    • The vast revolution wind project in Rhode Island is likely to remain stalled, near completion
    • Because the republicans have a trifecta in the levers of federal government, the US is going to have a hard fight ahead of it to maintain free and fair federal elections. Depending on how that shapes out, other countries governments may feel more bolstered to follow suit.

AI will be allowed to take governmental positions.

The US will break out into civil war.

And to be more specific, an influential person will die and as an almost direct result something big will change.

Up to you if that’s bad or good.

While I disagree that America can lose WW3, if it does happen, I have no doubt in my mind that America has lost the ability to mobilize and rebuild their after a war as effectively as they did in WW2.

The US supply chain is so heavily tied in other countries, and our racism, tariffs, threats to allies and outdated work protection programs means we’ll be spending decades spinning while everyone else returns back to normal.

Tô the good, a lot of governments are pushing through regulations on AI usage and development, clean energy developments including wave energy will come to fruition, and economic shifts in what countries do business with each other could mean more development in Africa and South America.

To the bad, food insecurity will become a more exigent problem as basic needs get more expensive, global armed conflicts are escalating, and more folks will be injured through lack of regulation.

By 20th Sept 2026 the Russia will have lost the war it is waging, or at least it is clear to all sides that the final end of the war will in approximately half a year. USA and China can still change this, but I don’t think they will.
