I think it is von der Leyen specifically more than ‘Brussels’. She is often criticized for overreaching on her statements on foreign policy. Borrell (the previous foreign policy representative of the EU, from Spain) was very vocal about this

This isn’t particularly new, they’ve been calling it a genocide for a while now and taken several previous actions.
I’m not sure what the EU finger pointing means, though. Them following suit or the opposite? I don’t think they’ll have much to say either way.
I’m saying this is a good step for the EC to start building a groundswell.
