Honestly, I’ve found that when you discuss taxes not as “higher or lower” but as “higher to fund x,y, and z or lower at their detriment” people stop champing at that low tax bit. A lot of middle class people feel screwed by rich people not paying as much as them, but when you frame it as helping them or people they know they’re more on board.
