I just recently learned that the “monsters” in I Am Legend were not zombies, they were vampires and they were supposed to be fully sentient… The movie adaptation missed the mark so much it is basically a completely different and unrecognizable story from the book.
why is there a tag or something next to your name that says “Bot”? Is that supposed to be there? Is that something buggy happening in the front end I am using?
They even had an ending in the movie that was closer to the original , but they cut it/changed it because it didn’t test well.
I’d guess that was because it was an ending that followed the original storyline and didn’t make sense without the rest of the movie also following the original storyline.
spoiler
It turns out (or is apparent in general) that the “zombies” are sentient/sapient and to them he’s the monster in the dark(or daylight as is the case here), from their point of view he’s basically been abducting people for experimentation and killing anyone who comes looking for their abducted family.
The zombie/vampire guy at the end is just looking for his partner to rescue her, once he has her, he leaves.
Just tagging on to add that if you haven’t read the novella I Am Legend by Richard Matheson, it’s worth your time.
It has been adapted to film three times that I know of. The first was The Last Man on Earth, starring Vincent Price. Matheson was so upset with the finished product that he refused to allow his name on the film even though he wrote the original screenplay. The second was The Omega Man with Charlton Heston, which has its flaws but is still the best adaptation IMO.
I had high hopes for the Will Smith film in 2007, but the creatures and the ending were entirely wrong.
The original story is great, but it’s such a slow burn with a mindfuck ending that I have given up hope of ever seeing an accurate portrayal on film. It would have to be something on the level of a passion project from Peter Jackson or Guillermo del Toro, from a director who loved the source material enough not to change it significantly.
The Bot thing is because the system has decided that VPN use indicates automated account creation. I am not and its annoying but this nothing I can do anything about
I try to point it out to everyone I see who is marked as a bot who seems human because you can also enable an option to filter all self marked bots out.
I feel that was an incredibly embarrassing moment for Will, obviously totally inappropriate. That and some other things he has done have made me mindful about spending my money on anything he is in.
But watching stuff on my jailbroke streaming device? Ill still enjoy him from time to time.
I cant say I blame anyone who is done with any particular garbage celeb or artist. I get it.
Yeah I haven’t come across a movie or show hes in that I thought was worth it despite thinking hes a shitty person, but it could happen. I almost watched I am legend a week ago but decided not to. I’ll probably still watch men in black from time to time though, mostly for nostalgia.

You don’t see an option in your user settings?
You are right I just noticed I changed it by unchecking the option. Thank you.

Totally appreciate it. I will make sure I ask anyone I see now too. Tnanks again
If i had a nickel for every book to movie adaptation that completely missed the mark, well id have two nickels.
Not blaming him, I think he is a very enjoyable actor. Maybe not top tier, but I see why hes A list.
Can’t watch him in anything since he hit Chris Rock. It ruined his characters in nearly every thing he was ever in.

Ah yes, great book. The film is fun but completely fails to adapt the point of the book.
