The bioavailability of a suppository instead of edible is insane by comparison. Someone who gets a lower reaction from a ~100mg edible would get similar effects from a suppository less than half that strength because it’s being absorbed by another part of the body - different receptors stimulated and less for it to travel through.
TLDR; if your edible tolerance is high your stomach lining is just more resistant
Also most people who only consume casually are fucking wrecked by 100mg edibles. When I’m not being drug tested I take like one 5-10 mg edible once or twice a month and am hit hard by it. Something in the 20-50 range is normally tolerated by folks who use more than me and have higher tolerance. The only people I know who can do 100 are stoned regularly, often to deal with chronic pain
I’m that last group, used to need a 100mg two capsule to make it through the day. I’m down to 2 25s a day instead but some of the mental pain still seeps through.
My dose is ~60-80 depending on symptoms but I’m trying to break it into smaller parts to fine tune the effects
I rarely get high. Last time was 5mgs gummy and it SENT me, like I forgot how to move for a couple of hours. Back when I was in college and a borderline stoner I probably wouldn’t have even have noticed that dosage. Tolerance is a hell of a drug.
Sometimes genetic, sometimes you can shift it with the type (sublingual oil absorbs in the gums, bypasses the liver process which it into 11-Hydroxy thc)
The suppository would do this too, just with a different membrane and easier to have higher doses.
Anecdotals below
•I had one patient who ate a lot of liver after he had to quit drinking, and his edible tolerance dropped
•My edible tolerance dropped when I lost ~100lbs
•a colleague quit all other substances and tolerance dropped there too

I thought edible tolerance mostly had to do with a genetic marker that dictates how much of an enzyme those peoples liver produced.
