    Perhaps the contemporary high school student knows fewer things that are untrue, and certainly they have a few vague ideas about principles that were entirely unknown in the 19th century, but even so I’ll bet they know much less overall.

      Also, a certain amount of high school level medical knowledge is wrong and we don’t know it yet.

      Mitochondria are probably way more complex and important than current textbook descriptions, gut biome and skin biome probably influence way more, etc.

        What do you mean? Mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell! When I think of a powerhouse I think it’s most important.

          There’s some evidence that mitchondria might be the reason life needs sleep. They can kill their cell and communicate with other mitochondria.

          ATP production is super important, but they do a lot more than just creating that usable ‘currency’ of energy that inspired the ‘powerhouse’ idea.
