I like ai as a hobby but im not sure if i should try getting money from my hobby?
Im just wondering as i feel ai tools are getting more and more hard to run locally due to system and tech going up.

Ive wondered if its even possible to earn using ai as a assistant, not to do all the work but to help here and there.

Or should i not even bother with ai stuff?

For some reason im hyper focused on starting something or making money on my own.

Well if you don’t mind being a bad person who actively makes the world a worse place, you could probably set up some youtube channels and churn out mediocre slopcontent.

Making money from a hobby is a great way to tun a hobby you enjoy in a job you hate.

Les alone that unless you go big, yet won’t pay the extra hassle of filling tuy as self employed. No matter whether we talk about doing video on social media on teaching kids to play basketball this is the reason while it’s mostly a volunteer based hobby and not a job

If someone could use AI to automate any type of job or task that results in a profit…

The AI companies themselves would be doing it.

The most you’d be accomplishing is scamming people into thinking you’re an actual person working and not just lying with an AI knowing you’ll be fired as soon as they notice

If you want to make money (you’re not gonna make much) then you’re going to want to look for the tasks that can’t be automated, and sign up to do those as a human.

Have you considered a physical hobby? I’ve found a lot of satisfaction in woodworking due to having a physical object representing my work and progress in the hobby.

AI is incredibly popular right now, and there is a ton of competition that you’d have to contend with. Do what makes you happy, I just wanted to point out another viable option for you if you’re wanting a hobby that you can make money off of.

    Good luck either way!

    Yes-ISH.

If you use it as a tool, it can help you make money in a job like any other tool could.

As the money-making platform it gets a lot more iffy. If you self hosted a model and have a good idea then maybe.

Related question: I haven’t seen anyone claim to be a prompt engineer in ages. Did these people move on to other hype-titles?

There are two ways to make money, and both of them are fleeting: Creating new cutting edge AI services (EXPENSIVE) or consulting others who are asking the same questions you are (CHEAP, but requires the usual salesmanship and won’t be lucrative for long as others start to recognize these same truths).

If you create a capable LLM or other model that is more efficient, reliable and/or less expensive than others on the market, then maybe. But if you don’t already have the resources to do that (ie, if you plan to use an existing AI as a service), then no, you will simply be a consumer and not a producer.

That’s not to say you can’t find uses for it, but there’s nothing you can do with it that all the other users won’t be able to replicate without paying you.

Basically, it can make you money the same way crypto and every other multi-level marketing scheme before it can, by selling people on the idea that they can also sell the idea…

It’s mostly horseshit. The stuff they let us play with isn’t what they’re aiming to use “AI” for.

Like everything else: In life there are no get rich quick schemes, but we live in a world of get richer quick schemes.

That’s only if they own stocks in it…

With AI they got grifted into believing they could “learn skills” that would be valuable once AI became popular. Instead they sunk their own time and electricity into training the AI so people without those “vibe skills” could get the same result. Everytime they’re trying to get an AI to do something, all they’re doing is making it easier for the AI to do it next time.

They’ve literally been making themselves redundant this whole time
