Air fryer tip: Don’t get the really big ones. The strength of the air fryer over a regular convection oven is that it’s small, so it gets really hot, really fast, all over, and cleaning is easy.

Manufacturers have started putting frying baskets in convection ovens and calling it air fryers, except they’re not as good at the things you want an air fryer for. They take longer to heat up, they don’t “fry” as thoroughly and they’re harder to clean.

If you already have a convection oven, or have use for one other than air fryer things, you could buy the basket and use that instead to save money and counter space, it’s just not gonna be a great fryer. But it’s still an oven.

Also, just another related unsolicited kitchen advice: Don’t buy kitchen appliances with touch interfaces or even just touch sensitive “buttons”. Specially ones that you touch with your fingers coated in grease from frying things.

Thank you for attending my Ted Talk.

We inherited a dual-basket air fryer, a nice Ninja model, and had it for a week before realizing it was worthless compared to the convection oven we already had. Spacing things out enough in the compartments meant there wasn’t enough food for even two people (unless you put the same food in both baskets), it took longer to use than the oven, it absolutely stunk up the house, and then it had to be cleaned. Weird product and we got rid of it.

I’ve got a dual basket Ninja and I haven’t really found this to be the case for the past five years, most of which was cooking for two people

        no issues with stink

perfectly sized for quickly cooking portions for two

does a better job for fries and tater tots and similar things than the oven

cleaning does suck a bit because the baskets barely fit in the sink and sometimes you gotta do that to scrub bc the dishwasher can’t get the baked on stuff off

sure you can’t fit two pounds of wings in it without needing to go toss 'em halfway through cooking, and yes it takes longer to cook and is more inconsistent if overloaded, but it can most definitely handle a large portion of food per basket. and if you’re cooking more than two portions, that’s what the oven is for

I gotta say I think you had the wrong use case / expectations and that there was some user error here. if appropriately loaded, it should never take longer to cook than the oven. it’s better convection and heats up faster due to size. it simply beats the oven at this. but it has a hard limitation on capacity

This whole post is shit (excluding the comments). Useless red circle, illogical reply with a person who doesn’t fit as they didn’t kill families, dumb title. Only thing missing is misspellings and a huge white border with spammed emojis.

C’mon now! Don’t do that. Don’t be that guy. Don’t be the person who thinks he’s making a funny joke, but is in fact wrong.

Everybody knows Jeffrey Dahmer targeted loners who had few if any connections, because it would be easier to prey on their lonelyness. He only killed 1 at a time, and if he waited until he had 8 bodies, the first few would have already began to rot! You gotta cook human flesh right away! Otherwise it spoils…
