Good thought but it has a tiny flaw called “Human mistake”. This flaw is the reason why my wife always reads checkout bills right after leaving cash register.
I’d say they average one mistake per $150 in my experience. Double scanning stuff happens. They don’t seem to be trained in which fruits and vegetables are which, so they can easily hit the wrong thing and charge you double.
Self checkout just confuses me so much, I’m prone to mistakes. If only there was a trained/paid employee to do it for me
