    According to Dan McClellan, the cross in the cross-of-gold format is really a very recent pop-Christian symbol (that is, used by people other than Catholic monastics). It only got big in the 18th, 19th centuries

    So the folk who want a gold T to celebrate their trans-ness might have a strong authority to repurpose it…

    well, until it becomes the swastika of the white Christian nationalist movement and designated as a hate symbol.

    I’m surprised that squishier more red-letter based Christian faiths don’t re-adopt the intersecting-circles fish, which is a much older Christian symbol than the cross.

      I already see it as a hate symbol. People that wear it tell me I’m going to suffer for eternity unless I listen to them and this god fellow.

      If I walked around and told people to listen to me or I’d lock them in my basement and light them afire I’d be arrested.
