Democrats are the reason we’re in this mess though. All they had to do was convince Biden to stick with his 1 term plan and have normal primaries.

No, the reason is because you all keep looking to the dems as the “good guys” in all in this, instead of what they are. Co-conspirators. Never EVER forget that in 2016, Bernie would have beaten Trump with ease. Even Republicans were saying they would vote for Bernie. The world would never know what a Trump presidency looks like, if not for the Dems and the DNC screwing him over.

And they havent stopped. They are still screwing people over who could bring about change. Like AOC. They fucked her out of a committee seat less than 12 months ago. Instead the shoehorned in some 75 year old man with cancer because he was part of the swamp. Thats right, instead of a 35 year old woman in her prime, they chose a 75 year old man dying of cancer. And he did fucking die. He died 4 months later, and they STILL wont allow her to take the seat because she wont bend the knee to the corrupt party leader or their self interested donors.

If you all want anything to change, start a grass roots movement right fucking now around AOC and get her the nom for 2028. If youre all just going to sit back, and cross your fingers that cunts like Nancy fucking Pelosi are going to save you… well, youre fucked. And not in the good way. Stop fucking whining, and get out there and make the future you want to happen!

It literally says ‘they’, as in the Republicans, and is blaming the Republicans for insider trading, stealing congressional seats, bankrupting farmers, and bombing fishing boats.

It’s also blaming the Democrats for not doing much.

You can blame the Republicans for being shit and the Democrats for not doing enough. Two different groups can be responsible for two separate things.

That’s it! Distract from inadequacy by hand waving away support for a genocide! That’s the ole Democratic playbook!

Has it occurred to you that the kind of politician that will sell out to AIPAC to support a genocide is also the kind of politician that will have sold out to a miriad of other special interests and failed to inspire voters in a myriad of other ways?

This is the triangulation curse that Bill Clinton brought to Democratic politics that is perpetuated by the Democratic consultancy complex. This a-la-carte tailoring of policies to give just enough to each group to make them feel special. That stopped working decades ago, and the Democrats still cling to it. We need leaders who know wrong from right and aren’t afraid to say so. We need leadership that can inspire a population that cares about something more than the bottom line. Democrats didn’t just fail to win elections, they destroyed the soul of this country. Then the demons moved in.

If the voters cared about woman’s rights, they’d vote for democrats. It’s not on the party to play games. They put out their platform, they have a given reputation. People vote for what they want. Americans didn’t vote enough for democrats, so they don’t get that platform, they get the other one. It’s how it’s supposed to work.
Democrats listen to their donors so they keep having donors - that way they can continue to operate.

There’s absolutely way more simply apathetic non-voters who saw two candidates promising more austerity and genocide and said “shits fucked yo” and didn’t bother. You can call those people stupid but you’d be dumber for thinking that will get them to vote for your candidate.

If anything the uncommitted campaign was warning about that.

Biden was pro-Israel, I don’t see him personally having the funds stopped since he believed whatever he was being told about them trying their best and using the funds and weapons for defense only. Harris was not pro-Israel, imo, but she was directed to be lock-step with Biden on the campaign trail and not piss off the pro-Israel PACs.

We know that Netanyahu and Biden were working on a peace deal. There were some reports that this peace deal was pushed back though due to Trump and Netanyahu talking. It’s possible that Israel saw the ability to push the deal back as a win-win. Israel was going to have to scale things back quite a lot under Harris.

From Netanyahu’s own perspective it was more advantageous to them if this was an issue for US voters, and they’ve more or less been given more power to do what they want. Also since Trump has not come down hard on how they did engagement. I believe this is why the peace deal did not happen before the election, despite it being pushed for. Plus they already knew Biden wasn’t going to play hardball with them.

There were lots of different parts at play in 2024 ultimately which made it quite a mess. Both political parties receiving notable donations from pro-Israel PACs definitely made the situation more complicated, especially when some of those PACs would run ads that heavily implied false claims about those candidates that weren’t avidly pro-Israel.

Pretty hard to lose an election against Donald Trump but they’ve managed to do it twice.

Maybe they should’ve ran a primary.

Maybe they shouldn’t have both sides-d every goddamned issue against their own fucking side. Trans rights. Palestine. Healthcare. Immigration. Housing.

maybe they should’ve found a spine at some point in the last decade?

Maybe they shouldn’t have wheeled out liz fucking cheney in support of kamala harris?

maybe they shouldn’t have fucked bernie out of a run a cycle back.

I don’t disagree with most of this, but saying ‘beating Trump should have been easy’ is kind of missing the point, too.

Democrats missed all the signs that the country is in crisis, and ran their typical playbook anyway. Trump, for all his stupidity, actually saw the panic in the voting base and mirrored their frustration back at them.

It was never going to be “easy” as long as they were pretending nothing was fundamentally wrong.

They may not be my friends, but they are my allies.

You can be with us or against us. The two sides are fascism and anti-fascism. If you refuse to choose, the fascism choice is made for you.

Fight for primaries, sure. Primaries are important and there are choices to be made. But when it comes to actually fighting the Nazis you’re either with us or against us.

Probably because we elected the Dems to do something and they put their top man, Merrick Garland, on it and he did jack shit for two years. Biden also knew the court was fucked and refused to do anything about that. Also he did nothing to differentiate himself from the fasc and actively did a genocide and border fascism. Then he refused to give up power and handed his campaign over to a person who refused to distance herself from him.

So, yes, the useless neoliberals have doomed us to climate catastrophe and have enabled fascism by refusing to give up on their failed ideology. This is a global phenomenon that could have been prevented by helping normal people with their problems instead of tinkering around the edges.

Merrick Garland is a member of the heritage foundation and giving him the AG was putting a conservative in charge of prosecuting conversatives. The most important part of Biden’s presidency was prosecuting Trump and he chose a fucking Republican for the job.

Do you have a source for this? I don’t think this is true, and I can’t find anything on google to support it…

Democrats always do this. They’re always ‘looking forward, not back’, and that meant that Nixon, Reagan, Bush Jr and Trump all got away with various crimes, and so did the minions that worked for all of them (like Roger Stone).

Democrats were falling under themselves saying ‘in this country we don’t prosecute our political opponents’, followed through with that promise, and now Trump is prosecuting them.

It’s not like they didn’t know what was coming - Biden preemptively pardoned his son in anticipation of this.

But fuck the rest of us.

they got too sensitive, that they are afraid offending republicans voters, who may or may not vote for them. DEMS are never going to get any R voters, in general. they dont keep the younger based engaged enough, like AOC, BERNIE AND MADHAMI WOULD.

Democrats when they are the majority: “OMG, the Republicans are preventing us from giving you any of the things that you want. I guess we gotta go bomb a bunch of brown people, and spend a bunch of monies on our rich friends.”

Democrats when they are the minority: “What do you want us to do? We don’t have any power. I guess we gotta vote for the Republican policies.”

No, the problem is Neoliberalism. The Dems that you listed aren’t the outcasts of the party, they are the goal of the party. Their entire purpose is to absorb the rage of leftists into thinking that one of the two parties is actually fighting for the people.

Supreme Court and media narrative has been controlled by them for a decade at least. Plus democrats don’t ignore judges.

They are playing two entirely different games. Republicans could not give a shit about following the Constitution or the rule of law. That gives them a lot more options.

who greenlit dismantling media-monopoly limits we had in place for hundreds of year, clinton…wasnt it?

there’s a reason we joked about them being 1 party for so long, the GOP rotted into a personality cult…establishment Dem’s just think they can still get a “return to normalcy” when trump dies (read…go back to unsustainable ratfucking galore).

that return to normalcy is never coming, MAGA is here to stay until they’re forcibly removed (which they themselves have said)

I love how they are still scapegoating the party they helped vote out, right after you show them they’re part of the problem by doing so. They’re still gonna do it.

The fact that people are surprised is a huge part of the problem. When people say over and over what they will do, and then do it, and then say that they will do it again… at some point it might behoove others to actually listen?

Some, like Jon Stewart, warned people for literally decades that allowing the fourth estate (news media as the external check that balances everything) to be bought out would seal the end. The only surprise there was the speed with which it all happened, and given the external events that helped bring it about, even that should not have been so surprising.

Because it’s happened before, see e.g. Brexit, and it’s happening again now in most places around the world, even supposed strongholds like Canada and Germany. Although almost universally nearly everything I see across the Threadiverse is the notion that everywhere else is immune - it’s like each commentor individually thinks that “yes it’s happening everywhere else, but not to ME, where I live”. Almost nobody wants to take responsibility to listen, learn, and own up to personal biases that could help to move forward intelligently.

Okay then. Fuck it, we ball I guess.

The media has been captured for decades. It’s literally the thesis of ‘Manufacturing Consent’.

To be clear though, I meant the for-profit media, which affects all both sides. Like everyone on MSNBC is constantly acting “shocked” and are “surprised” at every single new event that happens.

        image

News is entertainment, not factual conveyance of information. And what information that does manage to make it through is heavily biased, which only makes it all the easier to disprove it.

        image2

e.g. the right talks about how cities are literally on fire and shops don’t even exist anymore as all the windows are boarded up. The left counters with how every single person in a city is so “safe” and crime basically never happens, as the stats show (they say). We all here know that both of those are bold-faced lies, but put yourself in the mind of a young person from a rural or suburban area that has barely or even never spent any time in a city environment: all it would take is one single trip to a city where their car window gets shattered (even while they are still in it?) and/or they get shot at or mugged and bam, instantly they no longer believe the leftist media bias, even if they also still aren’t ready to accept the full right-wing source either. But this being a 2-party system, NOT voting for the Democrats translates into allowing the Republicans to win.

But MSNBC will still act shocked, and Democrats will still write strongly written letters. It is performative acts all the way down (note I am not saying all the way through, but those in power at all levels i.e. of both media and actual governance).

Edit: also that >30 year old documentary would predate the actual and literal buyout of most media sources, which had heavily bet on the model of providing information free while served with ads, by not merely allies of but the literal individuals who are the elite. e.g. Musk purchasing Twitter, converting it into X, Bezos purchasing the Washington Post, and so on. I suppose they still do manufacture consent though:-D - but they now do it in a much more raw and naked form than 30+ years in the past, e.g. Musk not only censors posts on X but also posts directly there himself as well.

There is a line from the most recent album from Billy Talent saying they are tired of preaching to the choir. And I think that speaks to a lot of people who have seen the writing on the wall and spoken out. But not enough people take it to heart.

It’s hard to take it to heart when one person speaks the truth and two are paid to tell a lie. Your impression is forever going to be that the lie has more support than the truth.

even if they dint control all 3 branches, thier propagana machine works so well, they had total control over media for decades. that includes all the msms besides fox, notice how none of them show any left leaning news or content, its all whitewashes or marginalize. when troops were sitll dying in afghanistan, almost all the msms, were still honoring them.
