I hear about them in basically every corner of the anglo-sphere except the US. The ones in the UK are in the news all the time and here in Melbourne I have a crowd of 100’s march past my apartment every other month. Anybody in the US have experience with them? I assume they have a relatively small Palestinian population due to their overt Israeli support, is that true?

There have been continuous pro-Palestine protests here in Chicago for more than the last two decades. You might not see reporting on it because we’re just so used to it at this point. It’s not news, it’s a fact of life.

Yes. They have died down a little due to having a constant barrage of domestic issues to protest as well, but they’re still happening. You probably haven’t seen much, because it’s being heavily suppressed by the media here. There’s large protests going on somewhere in the US every single day about something, mostly about the unlawful arrests and deportations.

FYI: It’s the middle of the night in most of the US, so there probably won’t be a lot of American responses to this for a bit.

Locally here there are constantly pro Palestine displays or protests. I attend what I can when I can but the efforts have been split a lot with other mutual aid and direct action campaigns to push back on ICE raids and trans rights infringements and other stuff like that. At least this is how things have shifted in recent month in organizations I’m in.

Also consider the US media is all complicit in this genocide and suppress the ever loving shit out of any Palestine mobilization when they can. They have to lest the people who still somehow haven’t gotten out in the streets over this finally wake up seeing it on their screen all the time.

Yes they exist, BDS was a very influential one that is still going on as we speak. College campuses were and are still are the hot bed for this activity but it has unfortunately died down. Americans mostly only care about domestic politics and are very stressed about that rn so we haven’t had any huge marches recently if thats what you are wondering about

Wasn’t there the soldier that put himself on fire and the campus occupations last year?

If i recall there actions where heavily oppressed. With the current state of political chaos it might also be a case of shifting priorities from foreign to domestic problems.

The news barely reported on that soldier. Wouldn’t be surprised to hear there are more protests they’re refusing to cover.

Sure but that’s what most Australians, Canadians and British people are doing too. I’m asking if any are getting off of the couch

Look, if in Aussie land some bloke joins a protest, worse that can happen is that some Sheila throws a wombat or a bottle of Fosters at his head. In the USA, chances are a MAGA dumbwit (= overzealous Israel fan, per Trump’s orders) will get his sniper rifle and pick demonstrators off like empty Pabst Blue-ribbon beer cans on this here old fence.

Well, as a human being I can’t say this applies to me. Sure, some animals (like the jellyfish, sea anemones, and coral) defecate and consume food through the same orifice mainly because they lack a through-gut. instead they have a single-opening gastrovascular cavity. Some comb jellies also fall into this category, of ewhich one species, the warty comb jelly, seems to develop a temporary anus for excretion. I have no information about farting.
