2·2 years agoI’m talking about the average person building a media server to cut out monthly streaming or cable costs. They don’t need or even know ZFS.

1·2 years agoLike ECC there’s little to no benefit for the average user to use ZFS.

11·2 years agoIf you look at what OP posted they were paying only $80, which means they raised to $110 so recently that OP hadn’t even gotten that price increase before they raised it again.

2·2 years agoIt can be far more than “a few extra bucks.” It’s not just buying more expensive ram, but you need a compatible motherboard and processor as well.

7·2 years agoNot sure how you missed out last time they increased the subscription cost. You must have renewed immediately before the increase from $80. That said, I’m out. The Android TV app has been having annoying audio issues and I’ve already cancelled every other service because of pricing.

World News@lemmy.ml•Israel Has Killed 6 Hamas Leaders in Gaza. It’s Killed More Than 800 Children.
11·2 years agoSo by this logic you are justifying the actions of Hamas by saying it’s OK to kill civilians to meet your political and military objectives or as retribution for your own civilians being killed.

Entertainment@beehaw.org•The Hollywood writers’ strike is over — and they won big
3·3 years agoI’m sure the companies didn’t give them as much money as they originally asked for. Unions usually expect to concede partially on those numbers and start at a higher negotiation number.
That’s true, but also we rarely use the switch as a portable in our house and my kid could care less. We don’t need Mario Kart to be 4k 120 and Breath of the Wild is designed to look great with lower graphics quality. We have a PS5 and a 4k TV with VRR and we switch between the two all the time.
And Nintendo will “once again” outsell hardware that out performs theirs.
That’s actually kind of how the switch works. But it’s not hardware in the dock, it’s just the ability to draw more power when plugged in allows it to increase performance.

We also don’t know how common over the counter Tylenol and Advil work.
