I am writing this on my Bluefox NX1… Android 15, 8gb ram, 128 GB storage. 4" on the diagonal, about three days battery. Crappy sound, crappy camera, finicky keyboard but autocorrect is a thing. Bluetooth earbuds and I don’t care about the camera most days. Dual SIM, 135$. Been using it exclusively for almost a year now.

In my case, I use a locally hosted stable diffusion setup, so it’s not even running 99.9% of the time. Turn it on, ask for the thing, turn it off again. Fans are spinning for a minute. A single session of any AAA game is worse.

Isn’t this really the only valid reason for any AI image generation? Things I’ve AI image generated: 1) Godzilla riding a Unicycle B) Godzilla taking a math test #) Godzilla fixing a printer iv) Godzilla roasting a marshmallow with his breath V) My corporate logo with Godzilla attacking superimposed. None of the above is a joke.

Every day, make one thing better.

I’m a card-carrying member, lifetime, of MMGFN, but they are Making More Godzilla Films Now, so…
What loopy’s saying. I find it easier to be like “Disk A: Linux, Disk B: Windows” and use separate EFI partitions, so I generally do that on computers where I can stuff two separate disks, but I have machines with only one hard drive, and then I just go “First half of disk: Windows, second half: Linux.” I agree that install Windows then Linux is the way to go. True story: quadruple booted an old MacBook Pro: supported Mac OS, OCLP Mac OS, Windows 11, Ubuntu. Did it for a friend, spent forever getting it all to work, then he set it down in a coffee shop and walked away. Never saw it again.
This is how I explained Matrix to my mom: its like an email address, but for chat. You can chat at me, even if we aren’t using the same server, like someone can send an email from Gmail to Hotmail. She got set up and promptly went back to texting me every dang time.
I did a tailscale to a VPS for a while, but then the VPS host got bought by Microslop…

I spent two years with inexplicable migraines. LCDs literally hurt. As such, I have an extensive collection of e-ink devices! Seriously, for a sad few, a typical display might as well be like hammering your skull every time you look at it. Hell, I even used the Windows Remote Desktop app on my Inknote just to do basic computing. (I got better.)

I set up the system to allow elevator music in the waiting room at a clinic, and gave it to the receptionist with instructions on how to use it… That clinic gets very Honky-Tonk. All the time.

My advice: (not to OP.) Block this guy. I don’t think he understands that he’s not on Reddit and karma doesn’t matter. He’s trolling and wasting your time. He asked, people answered, and now he’s just arguing. Troll behavior. I’m blocking him, and my Lemmy experience will be better for it.

I worked at a high security facility where the cameras could be moved by the guards. I always waved, and every now and then, the camera would “nod” back. Super cute!

I just got my first chainsaw! I wish my dad were here to see it. Also, I just got stitches for the first time! Amazingly, those are unrelated!
I went to high school with a guy we called Yukon Jan. (Jan is pronounced Yawn.) I wonder how he’s doing…
I am! I’m guy from all of Canada! I haven’t been to Yukon.

Platforms themselves are self-selecting. I’m speaking for myself here. I am on Lemmy because I dislike the power that big tech has gotten to control content, policy, news, and global perceptions. As such, I self host and use federated technologies where possible. The vast majority of AI tools are controlled by the same centrally controlled big tech companies that I’m here to avoid. There are self-hosted AI tools or there, but basically every AI tool was trained using scraped data, and, for instance, my Searx-ng instance was flooded by so many bots that I had to make it harder to use for myself just to keep the bots out. My blog? Constantly scraped, killing my bandwidth. A lot of foss projects used to have bug bounty programs and accepted code from any contributor to wander in, but are now closing off due to AI slop code contributions. So, the type of person you’ll find here probably hates AI if they’re like me. Also, I work in tech and have to bite my tongue every time a co-worker “helpfully” sends me a Copilot Slop answer to a question when I was asking for a judgment call or an opinion.

I was coming to say this. Say hi to Electra and Demeter for me!
As a Canadian on Lemmy, I keep running in to the same couple of people… Hi, lady from Calgary, and guy from Ottawa! Nice to see you again!
I had it forever, but it doesn’t work on later Android versions. I bought the paid version too.
