Completely laughable. Literally had 16 GB of DDR3-1600 for my 2600K from 2011 that I handed down to a kid nephew for their first PC to tinker with. Hell, my local NAS has more than that…

How is it that 2 days after this posted no one has said “Craigslist.”
Payday 2 was a really novel idea a long time ago. Highly scripted replayable missions with unique aspects but RNG for procedurally variable elements like guard patrol positions, locations and security aspects… in addition to dynamic changes based off how successful the player was at doing a job without letting security escalate the mission to going “loud.”
It made otherwise boring repetitive loops of missions feel new and different enough each time that it was exciting. Being randomly matched with others fed into the unpredictable heist aspect as well…
But instead of focusing on constantly further improving upon those systems, fixing terrible issues related to both friendly and antagonistic A.I. (I remember how for the longest time your teammates could not literally pick up a duffle bag), they saw dollar signs with in-app-purchases… and with Payday 3, they doubled down on that aspect… so no one got on board… and eventually longtime players like myself stopped playing Payday 2 as well.
…a spellchecker on steroids.
Ask literally any of the LLM chat bots out there still using any headless GPT instances from 2023 how many Rs there are in “strawberry,” and enjoy. 🍓
Oh man, I hate it when that happens…
…I mean… you should probably share the streamer’s Twitch handle so we can all avoid seeing those kinds of videos, since that would be terrible to be forced to see something that terrible.
Yattee on iOS works sometimes depending on whether or not YouTube has blocked an instance, but you could also try setting up your own local invidious instance to hook into it as a more permanent solution, though that was too much for me to figure out how to set up correctly.
I remember enjoying the movie and being angry at all the critics saying how they couldn’t enjoy it because it was “too on the nose.”
I am like “have you motherfuckers not been paying attention?”
Instead of wishing any game company to fail, I wish for them to unionize.
That would piss the CEOs off more, would result in a bunch of passionate good devs who have nothing to do with the bad decisions and who just want to make fun games NOT losing their jobs, being discouraged and then leaving the game industry due to constant cycles of endless crunch, followed by layoffs and studio closures due to greedy stupid shortsighted actions by management.
Gotta love mutual aid! 🫡 thanks for providing me the incentive to learn more as well.
I would argue that in their pursuit of worker rights they sought to prevent progress rather than supporting using the means of progress to lighten their own workload and then fight to receive the benefit that such machinery could provide.
Reading more on them via this article, so Luddite is the wrong term. Maybe I was trying to use that term instead of just saying “impressing a tech-ignorant boomer like my dad.”
I’m for worker rights as well, but I don’t think that means we should go back to the dark ages for production.
I just think that the bosses shouldn’t get all the money from the robot savings, while everyone else works their asses off for no additional benefit.
Sort of like how I can use a dumb “AI” music tool thing to share jokes with friends and dumb meme posts, but at the same time also think that Columbia records or whatever music corp or Ticketmaster should NOT be able to gouge the prices for concerts and then on top of that, not pass the increased profit to the actual artists.
No worries. It’s not for everyone.
I’m hoping the dumb songs that I have that company fart out for free as jokes supporting Lemmy comments, or as backing tracks for clips of my friends and I playing Fortnite that I share just amongst our group of 10 people won’t somehow upend and displace the countless artists whose works I’ve supported over the decades via concert ticket purchases, royalties via movie soundtrack licensing, and buying official merchandise.
Pretty fun dumb thing to play with. Use it to entertain friends and impress Luddites tech-illiterate boomers like my Dad.
Occasionally someone is able to manually finesse it into making it do something actually cool.
Edit : To be clear, I support artists and do NOT support the replacement of genuine and meaningful art created by individual minds.
At the same time, I also would pay to watch a live real human choir + orchestra performance of that “Newton’s Genius” song if someone put that LLM song to sheet music.
At this point, I treat Adobe like malware on my personal systems.
Enshittification seems to be accelerating.
Valve showed how to do this right years ago at this point with the Steam Deck.
Boom. Scalper market collapsed for Steam Deck, PS5, etc.
Bingo. Shield pro, and blacklist the MAC address of the TV and NEVER update the firmware.
I feel like I only know just enough about docker containers to get myself into trouble.
I’ve ran a few docker containers for things like Minecraft Bedrock for my kid and his friends and a local Ubooquity server and stuff like that but I’m wondering if anyone has made a guide for glutun VPN bind + an Invidious instance with tailscale/twingate setup you mentioned.
I am just an iPhone pleb who really loved using Yattee while it worked and assume a similar setup to what you described would allow me to point my Yattee to the self-hosted instance.
I’d wait for one of these.
iOS DID have Yattee, but it’s basically unusable at this point unless I’m doing something terribly wrong on my end. Every time I try to use it, even when signed in, I get errors no matter which back end I use.
That’s the Steam Deck.
Apple does have a lot of vertical integration which allows first party stuff to function well and they work closely with a lot of their premium 3rd party software partners, but you try running an actual RAM hungry process like a local LLM model, for example, and all but the highest end latest edition MacBook Pro WILL shit the bed.
