I just updated to 0.35 and got a translation forced on me with no option to go back to English. The translations are a bit of a mess in many ways. Literal translations that take no consideration of context, broken layout elements due to longer strings of text…
Don’t get me wrong, is great that they are thinking of making it easy for everyone to use the app, I’m just asking to make it optional if possible.
BTW, I don’t know if Jerboa devs monitor this community, but I don’t use Matrix, so I’m not sure where else to request this.
Jerboa 0.35 added an option in the android settings to change the app language. You can change the language there.
And the next release (0.0.36) will have it in settings as well. Not sure on release date though.
If I’m not mistaken, that’s only a feature on Android 13.
That’s correct.
I’ll be changing my old phone in two weeks but my heart stays with people who, for whatever reason (e.g. : broke), are stuck on older phones capping at Android 9.
If I read correctly this option is only available on Android 13. Looking at the statistic from April this means that only 12.5% of android users can change this.
Also the german texts are too long and break the layout.
This has been addressed but there is no solution yet:
Thanks for the heads up, i’ll head over to github then. Imo just removing the labels would be better anway.
