Known journliast Jason Schrier believes single.player PlayStation exclusives may not release on PC in the future, wondering about the success of these releases
I’m fine with a bland story as long as the gameplay is solid. The gameplay is why I play. If I wanted only story I would watch a movie, I suppose.
But you say you played 16h of Horizon? You must not have finished it, or? I played it for 123 hours. Granted I finished it 100%, and did a loooot of gathering and exploring. But 16h feels low for completing all of the main story. I don’t know.
I don’t need to finish something to make up my mind. The game isn’t going to flip on its head 30h in. 16h is more than enough, hell, steam cuts it at 2h for refund.
It’s just that the game has a narrative and game-mechanical progression which you are losing if you don’t follow through.
The 2h threshold for a refund doesn’t really suit every game of course, it’s a blanket threshold for the entire store. 🙂
But meh, you made up your mind, no point in trying to convince you to play it now. I’m just saying it’s a game that might grow on you even more than you realize. I looked it immediately, but even I was amazed at the beautiful scenery and great battles I was going to experience even further into the game. The expansions were awesome as well. Really good end game boss battles.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the games you have access to!
Nor am I here to discredit anyone’s enjoyment of it. People have different tastes but it’s also the “it gets better after 100h!” Trope… If a game can’t capture someone after several play sessions and 16h total… It ain’t going to.
It’s a shame they pigeon hold the idea of robo dinos in this sci fi yet caveman like era because I’d love to explore more of it… Just not in this format.
Fair enough. But know that I’m not saying “it gets better after X hours”. I’m saying it continually gets better in a smooth progression. That’s what I liked about it.
But all to their own. You are entitled to stop playing after that short amount of time. 👍
16h barely feels like enough to even get the story started… No wonder they didn’t enjoy it after giving up probably in the first area. Kinda brain-dead opinion tbh. The story in horizon was incredible and even if you ignored every side mission or collectible and just played the campaign there’s a ton of variety in the gameplay and environments.

Fully agree. I can’t imagine quitting at 16h. Adventure games must not be for them. 🤷♂️
