Data privacy and AI services have not been the greatest of bedfellows. Studies have shown that employees regularly leak company secrets via assistants, and on-device AI services are a focus of vendors amid concerns about exactly what is being sent to the cloud.
The thought of confidential data being sent to an unknown location in the cloud to generate a helpful summary has clearly worried lawmakers, which is why there is a blanket ban. However, the issue has less relevance if the process occurs on the device itself.
Imagine writing things as important as laws with AI. Or maybe just look to the far left of the globe, which ironically runs the most far right politics in the west.
The globe doesn’t have a left.
It does on all flat map projections…what is located on the left (or right) is arbitrary though.
Imagine writing things as important as laws with AI.
If it’s anything like AI-generated software, it would be full of loopholes.
The last time I heard a lawyer tried this, the AI fabricated trials that never happened and people who never existed.
Had me in the first half, “European parliament bans lawmakers from…” had me wondering what fresh hell this was heading into, before the “using AI tools” gave me back a shred of hope for the future
