I’m not convinced all that many people are really into the “step” porn. Its targeted to a small group, and everyone else just watches it because the pornstars are hot and they ignore the “story” anyway.
The theory I’ve read is that lots of people are into a bit of the taboo/forbidden partner aspect of an attraction they have toward a real person in their life: their neighbor, platonic friend, co-worker, etc. But most of these connections don’t really feel all that taboo when it’s someone else, so the “step-” angle is just a generic stand in that carries the forbidden aspect without going too far.
I suppose that makes more sense.
A French youtuber did a study on porn, to see if it was violent as lawmakers make it seem. And as a matter of facts, the titles and tags rarely represent what it actually is.
