Mass surveillance of trash is certainly not a benefit to everyday people
It’s mostly for recycling since garbage is bagged. In my town you’ll get a notice of you recycle things that clog the sorters.
There was more checks when it was by hand. They’d slap on a sticker and refuse pick up. I prefer the nasty gram.
Recycling is cool and all but pretty much all the plastic that goes in those bins ends up in the ocean or landfill
Instead there should be a glass bin, an organics bin, and a landfill bin
Getting off topic here but metals and paper too. We don’t have organics bins here. Only in the past few years has a third party service become available.
