Every ‘entry level’ job opening wants 5 years of experience in some piece of software that has only existed for 2 years.

I got my degree 8 years ago, it’s been gathering dust as I’ve been stuck in an unrelated dead-end job, and now I fear it’s a red flag for employers that I’m in my 30s with no relevant experience in the field.
