I’ve always rocked regular or baggy. It’s a comfort and practicality thing. Having skinny jeans takes away the point of denim being durable and warm, something it needs to be loose for.

There’s no one on this planet that can generate body heat on such a level it can counters the atmosphere, so creating a little atmosphere inside the denim with loose jeans is the next best thing. It’s the same concept as single vs double glazed windows.
If you want tight pants in cold climate, need to use high textured material likecorduroy or fleece, otherwise add a thermal base layer under the denim.
