Im late to the show, got a ps5 and only now i got doom eternal, having loads of fun since i dont know how long. My question is, because i do not want to lower the difficulty ( and i think i picked up third? ultra violence? ) and im getting wrecked at the first optional thingy where if “you solve it” youll get three weapon upgrade points. Forgot the name, purple thing you need to find a key first to open.

EVERYONE IS SO DAMN FAST! On which enemies should i concentrate, which ones should i leave for glory kills and ammo?

Always be moving/dodging, do glory kills for health, chainsaw for ammo, and most importantly master the Quick Switch technique. This person has a great guide on it. It’s basically where you switch weapons after every shot so you don’t have to reload and you output damage really fast even on the hardest difficulty.

Given that you are on a controller you can just swap between 3 weapons and still delete enemies. Like here is my play through with my steam controller where I pretty much spammed super shotgun, ballista, and rocket launcher to get through the game on nightmare. There was an update pushed that lets controller uses bind weapons to any button, so set weapons to quick switch with that over relying on the weapon wheel which breaks momentum.

I wanted to play this game but was met with “Create a Bethesda account” and immediately deleted it.

That seems like a petty reason not to play a game you already paid for.

    My general advice is this:

In Doom Eternal you need to keep running all the time. Enemies will have a harder time hitting you that way. Utilize the entire arena! If you stay in the same spot for too long you will get flanked and put down quickly.

You also need to be mindful of your ammo usage. Don’t waste too much on it on zombies, as killing zombies won’t contribute to the progression of the arena fight, and they’re not that much of a big threat. The main purpose of zombies is to be ammo piñatas.

And lastly, if you’re struggling with the slayer gates (as these purple things are called), you can just skip them and return once you’re more comfortable with the game. I didn’t finish most of them on my first play through (on ultra violence).

I found it to be harder than the prequel, and honestly I didn’t stick with it because it felt less like an adventure compared to the first and more like an arcade/puzzle game. It seemed like I was expected to constantly switch weapons to kill certain types of foes and while that probably appeals to some, it was a turn off to me. I just want to shoot stuff! 💥

I can’t remember what the enemies are actually called, but the zombie dudes and the army dudes are the ones I always glory kill for health. I usually try to whittle them down with the rifle so I don’t accidently kill them before they go all flashy. Other than that, I just try to keep moving around the map, and review the codex entry for each enemy type so I know which weapon is best against them.

Have fun! I love this game.
