So i was thinking about this from a dns perspetive. If you have a dns forwarder can you not configure it to ensure that emails from the local smtp server never leave tour lan?

Apparently is Shinobi CE (Community Edition) which is licensed under GPLv3 but no longer maintained and Shinobi Pro (current codebase) under a “Shinobi Open Source Software License Agreement”. From what I understand though the source code is still fully available and inspectable. The Shinobi licence simply puts restrictions on it’s use (i.e. they want to monetise for commercial deployment). Quite clearly they are competing with BI as you say. They must have a unique selling point I hope … It means that only Frigate is truly open source/free software.

This is a massive problem here too. Schools create these google accounts where teachers share work, etc. Its as if only google existed. How can we teach our kids to be openminded? I praise the suposedly young person that posted. Not all young people understand the threats of lockins.

Yeah, immagine a future where robots hunt human so that they can extract their brains and connect them to biological datacentres. Get 8 billion brains wired together and you have the most powerful datacentre in the world. ;-)

Seems like i’ve come late to the show then. I was about to get Frigate running on my optiplex micropc and was going to buy a Coral TPU. But if the are not sold anymore I may be stuffed with image recognition? My idea was proxmox->vm->frigate which seems to be the reccomended way of doing.

Having read this whoke thread, i feel its time to drop Portainer. I find it useful to edit the stackfile and do updates, as well as cleaning old volumes and images. Seems like Arcane and Dockhand are the most popular substitutes. Is the migration from Portainer easy?

Social media is making western societies dumb and lazy. I realised this even more when I read that TikTok was developed for the westerners, despite it being a chinese product. I thought it had been deveoped in China for the Chinese and it later spilled into the west.

Social media and AI are valuble tools and can help improve society. Federated systems like Lemmy are an example. But humans are driven by profit and convienence so it’s inevitable that the worse of social media ans AI make the headlines. Profit and convienence: these are the root causes that will drive humanity to extinction.

This is why use of AI needs to be a conscious use. We need to understand that everytime we use it, we are teaching it to improve itself, and if we are feeding it sensitive data, then we are being really stupid.

I think this is the real problem here. Chats are being fed to AI. This is horendous. Do we know which chat system was raked by OpenAI.

Maybe, but the starting point is not the same. Now, information travels superfast compared to centuries ago. Governments could keep up, … now they lag behind and don’t keep up.

But what does this really mean? School is about developing critical thinking, regardless of whether you know every Shakespear madterpiece or whether you know how to resolve second order differetial equations. Cinese education surpassed western education years ago and they are now picking the fruits of that effort.

Yet, i think the real tragedy of western schooking and young people is social media. Its making our kids dumb any the are loosing their critical ability, ability to ask questions and find answers, ability to be curious. Yes, the western world is on a downward trend but it doesn’t have to be the end.
