Couldn’t agree more with you OP. As someone who often got discouraged from posting on Reddit, I’ve been making an effort to post more here and all the responses have been great. I think it helps that we’re all new here and all on this weird journey together. That being said, I’m so happy to be here with all of you!

This is just about the only thing I use Reddit for anymore.
It reminds me of when I first found Reddit back in the day, and just how not user friendly it was. I’m looking at the blackout like a good thing - I’ve got a little bit of that “excitement” back from finding and exploring these new places.
Too bad I’m not an app developer - I’d be all over it, haha.
If the target audience you speak of is people leaving the other site and coming here, then I’d say 100% yes. I can only speak for myself, but after seeing what they did to Apollo, I would be more than happy to spend some money to support Christian if he were to make an app for Lemmy. I think a lot of others would to.
Replying from Mlem now, really digging it so far. Can’t wait to see what’s coming in the future!
I certainly don’t think Reddit is going away forever, but I do think it will push a lot of the OG users out for sure. I just deleted my 10 yr. old account tonight and am just finding out about Lemmy.
As sad as I am to see it go, I’m excited to be a part of what’s next!
