As someone who was diagnosed at 43, I relate so much to this comment. Most things, buttered toast included, aren’t worth the weeks of pain. Although, I have seriously considered a Dick’s Deluxe burger on a couple of occasions.

There’s only like 5 of those in this area (Seattle). The rest are Cyber trucks.

691·3 months agoSo helpful. Gemini once summarized a VM from my kid (who is autistic and doesn’t speak super well) as a “long, rambling and incoherent message” with no attempt to decipher what was said. We will not be replaced by AI anytime soon.
I think of him more like the next John McAfee.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•It's so heartwarming to see some parents refuse to give up on their children even when they are severely disabled, meanwhile some parents wanna disinherit their children for neurodivergence...
91·3 months agoBeing disabled is difficult, and I don’t want to downplay that. But just to give you a bit of hope: I’m happily married to an autistic guy and have two autistic kiddos (one is pretty severe). Keep an eye out for your people - they are probably looking for you too.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•What if the Christian based restaurant chain Chick Fil A was open on Xmas this year?
1·4 months agoIt’s like 1 of 2 days where the whole country shuts down. Even if a person doesn’t celebrate, they shouldn’t have to work (actually that makes it like so much worse to make the non-celebrator work on the holiday).

81·4 months agoWe should all be mad if any store makes their employees work on Christmas. That’s just an asshole move.

Probably people who live near the natural habitat of the Sonoran Desert toad.
You get to do whatever you want with your money, but a business advertising is a really weird hill to die on. There are terrible small businesses and good established businesses. I think it is worth doing some extra research to find the nuance.
