Why is that? It’s not an efficiency thing, EVs are far more efficient than and manual will ever be. It’s not a shift thing, humans haven’t been able to outshift automatics for quite a while and EVs don’t have gears. The only think I ever hear is a flimsy “soul” thing, which frankly EVs give power to masses more than any Mustang GT could. Hell, Hyundai started putting in fake “gear shifts” into their EVs for people who wanted that.

Yeah the nice thing about EV motors, they can vary their power output hundreds of times per second so they don’t need a transmission as it can basically do everything a transmission can right from the motor. Some cars even put the motor in the wheel so you don’t need a drive axle. Overall the mechanical complexity of EVs are greatly reduced.
For an EV conversion it makes sense that you’d lock things to a single gear as you wouldn’t want to stress out the transmission from sudden power variances.
manual transmission EV
For what reason? Almost all EVs only have a single gear. The high performance ones will have two as most and that’s well into the triple digit mph. Reverse doesn’t require seperate gearing either.
Final Fantasy VI has almost 30 minutes of credits. Well worth it for the 50+ hours you can put into it. And the music is so worth it (it’s an epilogue more than just scrolling text)

43·10 months agoI remember when cable was analog, channels you didn’t pay for were blocked with a frequency filter. let’s say channels 13-60 were 425-475Hz (purely an example) there would be a little device connected to your coax that would filter it out. The thing was though, they did this in the cable box usually in your yard. So all you had to do was go out at night, pop the box open (wasn’t hard) and remove the filter to get free channels.
Then they moved to digital and all things changed.
Ever finish this?
This is what I was telling people when they were saying “well it’s against the GPDR!” and I was responding that functionally they’d have to go after every single federated instance, including those outside of the jurisdiction and deal with hundreds of other countries. And I got downvoted for it

So I’ve been on both sides of this equation. I had a rich friend growing up and they would give me random gifts like game consoles and tickets to concerts that we’d go with them. It was “pocket change” to them. As I got older, I came in to money young and started to do the same thing with my friends, and I realized why they did it and why I did it.
It’s nothing about power dynamics or holding it over others, but wanting to share in your joys and successes. I would buy dinner for friends at nice places because I wanted to enjoy something and I wanted them to also. They were my friends, I have money, why wouldn’t I want to share it? I hate when people are selfish and hoard money, so why not use it for everyone to enjoy.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•People with aphantasia, how does it affect your book reading?
17·11 months agoFor those of us who don’t know what it means: “is the inability to voluntarily visualize mental images”
Basically if someone said “think of a nice round juicy red apple” people with the condition wouldn’t be able to imagine it in their mind.
Man people in here being pedantic. It’s like he said “PlayStation” and people saying “well that’s actually a PS3, not a PS1”. Xbox is generic enough it can mean the OG, 360, One, Series S/X.
Edit: looks like the original title was more specific but the OP since edited it to be more generic.
Seriously? Got a link for that? (Not in a “I don’t believe you” way, but more of an “I’m curious to learn more” way)

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Without mentioning smartphones or social media, what societal changes have you noticed over the course of your lifetime?
3·11 months agoAnd it’s not that hard either. I’m out with a new group of people and just ask “do you drink?” If I get a “no” we know not to push it and just continue on like normal. They still join in with all the conversation, we keep discussions around favorite drinks, alcohol, etc light to none and no one is offended or bothered.

(Thinking through that last one they probably want a “pure” virgin)
