Unfortunately, world is such state that a little paranoia is warranted. If Snowden was not a wakeup call, now I finally feel there is a real movement to try to reduce the dependency. Keep in mind that the US currently threatens EU with occupation of Greenland and sides with our enemy.

I think home assistant + the home assistant app will do this, although i have disabled map etc from HA so I dont have 1st hand experience. You need to self host HA and establish a connection either with nabu casa cloud or a vpn setup (it’s quite easy to set up wireguard on HA)

Doesn’t do collaborative online editing and that seems what this is about. But there are foss alternatives already, collabora/nextcloud, cryptpad etc.

There is nextcloud and others you can self host at least.
