I’m not so sure, years ago, I saw a documentary once that tested this.

The more of you that is digital, the more of you they will see. Their ignorance of your life is a critical protection for you, from them.

I’m insisting on that at all. If that’s what you read, that’s perhaps your own fear talking.

They do what they have always done, gain control and shape it in their own interests, regardless of the cost to others. This is endemic to businesses itself. Business the the root cause of all market enshitification.

Sure but we build them on the orders of whoever signs our paychecks so we can stay alive. People fuck each other over at their jobs every single day by helping companies succeed at their ambitions. Theoretically we have power in numbers but we rarely even actually use that power.

These are the challenges we face, it doesn’t serve anything to pretend they don’t exist.
All of the things you mention that decline are part of being capable of good judgement. Being disconnected from the latest changes is also extremely common the older one gets, which removes contextual information necessary for good judgment as well. For people who don’t have kids in their life, or a connection to younger generations, that disconnect is amplified, as will be the increasing case for millenials all through Gen alpha.

I have serious doubts that returning to a ludite existence is truly feasible anymore. These companies, along with governments, seem intent on making it a necessity to be online and to do so without privacy.
The CEO of nvidea outright said their plans for the future involve AI agents accessing your financials and PCs being replaced with AI boxes as our interface. If they force AI into enough stuff before the bubble bursts, it won’t be a choice. The way the net works will be built for AI, not for users to manually interface with. If the infrastructure is rebuilt for AI, it won’t be a choice. With governments all pushing for OS level Id, Microsoft trying to record all user action, the push to ban VPNs, it seems like you will be making that choice sooner than you want.
I hope it works out for you but anyone who remembers a pre-internet life is middle age now and isn’t the target market for emerging tech anymore. If AI proves to be significantly advantageous, not being online to sue it will be like refusing to use computers was to the boomers. You’ll be outcompeted and lose track of how the world is changing.

For who? Where? I’m what?
No they aren’t, even without dementia or other cognitive conditions, aging causes mental decline. This is widely researched and known.

So it isn’t a choice between privacy invasion or watching it burn. It’s a choice between privacy invasion and being left behind.
Do you not know how aging works?
Was good day. Their entire scam is base on them getting lucky, unfortunately. I’ve gotten hooked a couple time at first because it related to my life. My suspicious now triggered when I have to fill in too much detail to connect it to my actual life. The best lies use truths.

For now. We’ve already seen behaviors become culturally suspect simply because they became uncommon. Not too far from vilification from there, then fear mongering, then criminalizing. I worry the value of us not having privacy is too profitable to withstand the effort to remove it.

They don’t care if kids do since that isn’t the purpose, just the excuse.

Do you even know the extent of things they know and what that information allows them to derive about you? They know the patterns of life of billions of people. You’re just a pattern to match with everyone else just like you.

We have more than we will and for some of us, who made the sacrifices and took steps, more than others.
This right here. This right here is why I fucking hate when ppl dismiss surveillance and data collection, eg. “idc if they want to know i went to work and then Starbucks” etc…
They absolutely make assumptions about us based on statistical analysis of the data they have and then the systems they control treat us based on those assumptions, however wrong. Dynamic pricing is now a thing because they know enough to target subgroups of their customer base to price gauge more efficiently.
Information is power and people are extremely fucking cavalier about empowering the most exploitative and cruel ppl in society, business leaders.
