Good developers pave desire paths when they appear.
Bad devs try to force the players to “correct” their playstyles because they are enjoying the game “wrong”.
It is mind-boggling how much more common the latter is.
Eskating cyclist, gamer and enjoyer of anime. Probably an artist. Also I code sometimes, pretty much just to mod titanfall 2 tho.
Introverted, yet I enjoy discussion to a fault.

Is mbin still a thing,

“It’s just a proof of concept guys, there are totally tons of good reasons to do this. We are definitely not just mashing sci-fi words together to scam investors.”

Was he played with until exhaustion? He seems kinda half-hearted about that feather toy by his paw.
Also one of those stickers is not like the others :D
Surveillance state fascists: “we can fix that”

I dk how he kept going for this job. It felt like they kept disrespecting him as a person.
Job searching is literally one massive humiliation ritual. The whole process is tailored to make you happy about accepting a shit deal.
No that’s self-employed.
Technically you could have a B+ version of self-emplyed, that is just: “crime, I set up a online scam/grift to earn ‘passive’ income”
Depends a lot on what you do.
But yeah. It can be a mix of whoring yourself out to google advertising, facebook, instagram, and shudder… tiktok.
I’ve gotten to know a guy in the same business as me whose been doing it long enough to have the momentum to just sit in his tiny storefront location, and have customers coming in the door by word of mouth, and by just having seen the store at some point years earlier.
I am so incredibly jealous. But. I’m a little over a year in and I am starting to pick up clients that heard about me from previous clients, and that is happening more and more.
SSS: You are the guy
Also B: Self-employed

Of course.
Lots of cybercrime has been solved by law-enforcement by matching traffic logs based on timestamps and throughput.

Nextclouds shortcomings can be addressed. I have no idea how you’d even begin to get collabora to work sanely.

That’s not what I’m saying at all. I’m saying Collaboras implementation is fundamentally unfit for use.
I used to host a CODE server.
It ran like shit, because it works by rendering the viewport on the remote system, not the client. Instead you essentially send every input to the server, wait for it to render the change, and then send that back to the client. Collabora is like using office software through vnc. Except all the time.
The responsiveness is atrocious. Especially if you try to use it over a less than ideal connection.
But it’s just fucking text data. It shouldn’t require the same infrastructure as remote gaming to be usable. It should be able to handle multiple seconds of latency, and just sync back up without the user ever noticing.
But it can’t. Because it RENDERS on the server. Which means the tiniest hiccup in the connection between server and user causes noticable issues.

How does that help me add collaborative office suite functionality to my nextcloud instance?

Collabora will never be good.
When I learned it’s “just” a libreoffice fork running on a remote server that is then screenshared to your browser…
The input latency and the graphical wierdness when resizing the viewport suddenly made sense.
I still want something better than onlyoffice for my nextcloud instance, but at least it is responsive.

I use matrix.
I run an instance for myself an immediate family. I also federate with other instances to participate in some dev groups.
The most active matrix space I’m in, is the one hosted by ani.social. Daily activity on anime-related topics, and also fediverse, lemmy and software.
If you want to try it, the main “matrix.org” instance is far from easy to recommend though. Finding good public matrix instances is a challenge. As such the best way is probably to either host one yourself or know someone who does.
They are out there, though. I’ve seen people be happy with pikaviestin.fi, but that’s only for finnish people. Mozilla also has an instance, though I’ve no experience on it.

Yes. They both have free speech.
If you can use your words to have them burned alive, so can they.
Another chapter of Lemmy history is written.
