And using a simple system means that once somebody figures out the system, all your passwords become compromised potentially.
But look at all these cost savings! I made the company profitable /s
You think that’s infuriating? Imagine having an ISP that wants you to pick a password of max 8 characters.
Has it gotten a makeover yet? Last time I used it ~3 years ago it still looked like it was built in the early 90s.
It was functional, not a complaint about that. The super old design just got on my nerves.

Articles like this and the fact they’re still trying to get recall back was reason enough for me to switch again.
Maybe one of these is interesting? I have no actual experience with them though:

They should all be self-hostable.
Edit: I don’t know of these all match your criteria. Maybe finance looks pretty Sleek imho. I just dread the thought of exporting my transactions and importing them because my bank is forking horrible w.r.t. integrations.
And logging in every time to do a CSV export is just annoying.
Edit 2: formatting
Sorry I don’t fully understand your question. Forced/hooked on what exactly?
The Xbox eco system?
Switching between consoles is a costly switch which will likely not pay off the price hike. That is assuming the competitor you’re switching to also doesn’t do a price hike shortly after you decide to switch.
They can switch to games from other publishers or other platforms ( e.g.: Nvidia ) instead of gamepass. But that would depend if the game is on there to begin with ( which is also an argument against game pass ). If all your friends are playing cod or Minecraft there isn’t really an alternative to switch to either.
Switching from Windows to Linux is ‘harder’ because people think it’s all terminals and magic and difficult. It generally isn’t nowadays. But there isn’t an initial cost to that. You don’t need to buy new hardware, there’s just a learning curve which doesn’t have to be that steep. But I have a technical background so could be biassed on that.
People can still buy games second hand or through the various discount websites I suppose. But I suppose you’ll still feel the price hike there as well. 10% off on a 60 or 80€ game is still the difference between paying 54 and 72.
Note: I actually didn’t read the article, but only the headline. So I could be completely beside the point.
That’s one way to try and shift your audience to your game pass subscription I guess.
Adding in icon in your name will help you differentiate wether a recruiter bothered to message you or if they just sent out mass messages to a ton of people. If the icon is there. It’s not personal.
Huh TIL.
I never considered trying to install a package from a local file through apt, but always dpkg. End result is the same of course. The web suggests dpkg rather than apt as well ( or at least the pages I ended up on ).
I uninstalled it after the whole security debacle discussion on GitHub. But the browser was quite enjoyable to use indeed.
Huh. Didn’t even know about this. Maybe I’ll browse their episode list to see if there are some episodes that are interesting.

Geolocation is an accurate way to predict the user’s language.
This makes me so angry. It really really really really really does.
Despite setting everything to English I still get my receipts in French. And all because my IP is CG-NAT to the capital which is marked as french speaking.
What is so hard about letting me decide. The absolute fucking arrogance thinking you as a company know better than me in which language I would like to be served.
Eat a dick Microsoft.
Yes. It’s not running anymore. But the entry lingered in the startup section ( for whatever reason ).
I’ve also had a case where starting my Mac gave me “file cannot be found” notification, and that was also related to software that was removed. Running a cleanup tool removed entries I couldn’t remove myself (ui) and the error disappeared.
The uninstall on a Mac just leaves a ton of garbage behind though. Dragging an app to the trashcan to uninstall is somewhat intuitive, but doesn’t remove the app from startup. Which is a bit messy because then I need to install software to clean that up.
Windows isn’t necessarily a lot better on that front, but it feels better ( the cleanup part )
I mean. For the majority geo blocking off anything except their main region would be fine ( whitelisting Europe for Europeans will be fine for the most part ). Especially if you make it opt-in rather than opt-out.
Though I assume they would likely just continue their hack attempts over VPNs.
Yeah I have an old email as well. I rarely log into it, but when I did I saw there are daily attempts from China and whatnot trying to log into it.
Not in the situation where the account is locked out though. I always wondered if you couldn’t reach out to m$ and ask for a geo block at the least.
