  • I play the Warhammer series, so I can’t speak much to Pharoh (their newest game release). The apology actually covers a lot of what the drama is about. Higher priced DLCs with okay content, old bugs from the previous installments unfixed, terrible communication with the player base.

I like the apology. It’s specific and they are putting their money where their mouth is. As long as they follow up, I think they can recoup a lot of goodwill. I’m hopeful because I love what they’ve done with the warhammer series and I want them to support it for years to come. It’s great right now and it has incredible potential.

  • Lots of good answers so far. From my experience, most people know what the fuck to do or at least they know they have a few options, so they don’t need me to tell them how to solve their problem.

To specifically answer your question… sitting there listening allows you to figure out if the person needs to vent, talk out their options, validation about their reaction, validation for their own solution, social connection, to know they have a support system in you, encouragement, and sometimes, yes, advice or a solution. So to assume it’s only a solution they want leaves out a whole host of other possible reasons they might come to you. “I know I just need to send an email, I just wanted to removed about my boss being a bag of dicks”.

My ex works for our state’s revenue department and they don’t give a fuck. The cases she would handle were honestly baffling how these people “made these mistakes”. They were either incredibly stupid or it was intentional tax fraud (it was intentional tax fraud). If you get tagged for an innocent mistake it seemed like an easy process to get out.

Same in Oregon. Never seen a “don’t rape your children” bilboard or “don’t shake a baby” bilboard. I do however see a lot of bilboards telling me how a 14 day conceived baby (fetus) has eyes, a beating heart, nails, and maybe a job with current labor laws being pushed. It’s wild how you can outright lie about that shit on a bilboard.

To maybe take this a step further. I think console (or PC or Mac for that matter) exclusives are fine for sone of the reasons you outlined. I see a lot of hate for this primarily among redditors. I do not feel like a console company paying a game developer or buying a studio to develop a game exclusively for them is bad for the industry. Especially if they’re doing it well. I recognize that there are companies out there that are using this method and harming the industry.

Sony has been killing it in the exclusives department for years now and it’s honestly great to see. I have a buddy who works for one of their studios and it seems pretty good on their end too. They’re pretty hands off. The model seems to be to have talented developers put their vision on the Playstation and stay out of the way.

For context. I don’t need to play EVERY amazing game. Nor do have the time.

  • Wow, you and the commenter above really sold me on it. That’s the way the internet was meant to be used. You go and search for shit. Not shit getting fed to you because “it totally matches up with other things you like”. I’ve hated these algorithms for so long. And for me personally completely misses the mark on what actually excites me. Instead it intentionally shows me bullshit that I will scroll through for hours or plaster my face in front of the second I have exactly 30 seconds of free time in my day. It’s fucking junk food.

  • Yeah, she might need someone to work on a costume for her. As I understand it (as just an instagram follower) cosplay isn’t something she does a ton of. It seems like mostly cool Halloween costumes.

There’s a couple cool youtube videos of bodybuilder, James Hollingshead, cosplaying as Kratos at comicon. He gets professionally done up and it looks like a lot of fun (https://youtu.be/lrGU77uf4Ic)

It’d be a lot of fun to see Jessica professionally done up as an action heroine at a comicon. She could be a real life she-hulk or wonder woman.
