No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Does portable bluetooth speaker with USB input exist?
9·2 years agoAre you looking for something like the jabra speak 510?
It has a cord that wraps around the base for charging and it works as a speaker off the computer.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you drink milk from the cereal bowl?
8·2 years agoHow about you do you? If they’re going to judge or exclude you for drinking some cereal milk from the bowl, who needs those people anyway? Scan the room while you drink the cereal bowl milk and identify the small minded judging you and rule them out as individual unworthy or your consideration.
Be happy, enjoy life. Jump in puddles and sing!

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are your tips for saving money and reducing waste?
4·2 years agoAbout 6 months. It even seems to be working for the sensitive skin person in the house.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are your tips for saving money and reducing waste?
12·2 years agoIf you have space to store stuff buy bulk in things that don’t expire.
Make your own cleaners for some things. Vinegar, dawn soap, and rubbing alcohol are the base for most.
Boardwalk laundry detergent has been a great cost saver. You have to buy 40 lbs at a time, but it works great. We typically use half the recommended amount since it’s made for larger washers.
Watch for commercial products as sometimes this is the way to go for simple items that need to be durable.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Lemmy.world Should Defederate with ThreadsEnglish
10424·2 years agoI was surprised to see lemmy.world didn’t defederate. I hope it does. And, I hope a mod weighs in on the planned direction for the instance.

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•I found it! The manual! I'm not sure it's helping me though...
14·2 years agoRead’s instructions: “Doesn’t seem that bad, what’s the issue?”
Sees: ‘Arch User Manual’

D’Oh!
Why not both? Seriously, why shouldn’t I install both DEs so I can figure out what I like best or suit my mood?
Can’t we actually have it all in this scenario?

There Was An Attempt@lemmy.world•There was an attempt to be a Bounty HunterEnglish
5·2 years agoLikely their main recourse is to sue.
Now I’d assume a legitimate bounty hunter would be licensed and potentially bonded. I’d think a complaint of willful property destruction with the right office would have some consequences. If there’s any oversight for bounty hunters, what would be the reason to disable cameras? This “bounty hunter” likely wants to ensure there’s no evidence of their planned actions regardless of the intended house. Maybe those cameras could have captured his intended target, and that footage needed to be … hindered.
This is usually how I end up exiting vim without saving, at least if I’m honest about it.
Maybe one day I’ll get better at it. Nano has been plenty for me.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What habits do you have to protect your privacy?English
2·3 years agoThanks! I’ll dig into this, I currently use iPhone, but that’ll eventually get replaced with something that supports LineageOS or GraphineOS. I expect I can do DNS over HTTPS on Linux, but I was hoping to get this changed at the router level. xfinity requires you use their modem/router for the unlimited data. They’ve removed a ton of settings you could change in the past, and now they force you to use the app for almost everything. (I install/uninstall every time i need to use it)

2·3 years agoHow do you stop DNS hijacking by your isp without using a vpn all the time?

Ok, I realize this is c/selfhosted, but I have a question… why not use something like the xBrowserSync extension for this?
Aside of someone could associate the data to me for my list of favorite web places, which has 100 other exposure points. Is there another use case you’re solving?
