Yeah, my parents didn’t have money for expensive toys either. I had a small transformer that I swapped off a kid at school for all my marbles (including the large steel bearing). It transformed from robot into tape cassette and I thought that was just cool as fuck.

I’ll admit I was a bit taken in by the image his PR people created, a few years back before he decided he didn’t need them. I think I wanted to believe in the benevolent billionaire bullshit, that maybe a rich person wanted to do some good in the world. Dumb fuckin me, won’t be making that mistake again.

I mean, people paid to attend trump ‘university’. There are always plenty of fools who will buy stupid shit. I kind of feel sorry for the students though. Most people are pretty young at university age and many are still forming their perspectives. Getting away from home and meeting new people is an important part of this. Plenty of people from conservative families go away to uni and start to see that they’ve been brought up on bullshit. This is an attempt to stop that from happening - the ‘anti-woke’ shit will attract more conservative students which will reduce the chance that any of them will encounter different views and cultures so they stay in their ignorance bubble. Don’t want little Johnny or Jane coming home from school an anarchist! It’s sad for the students though who will come away in massive debt with a useless degree and have less opportunity for healthy change.

Mostly, but not always first person. But I’m not always the same person - my age and sex isn’t at all consistent in my dreams. I’ve been an old woman or a baby boy, and pretty much everything across those spectrums. In my dreams it’s completely unremarkable.

Yeah, this is why capitalism should be treated like a dangerous dog and kept on a short leash. It can kind of work out for a while when a government restrains it, ensures that legislation exists and is enforced to protect workers, the environment, and consumers. Strong unions are a good sign. This never seems to last though, because the governments get bought eventually.

Space heaters are one of the most expensive methods. Check the power consumption, they are hungry things.

I bought the old homeworld games. I remember really enjoying them way back when, and the third game finally comes out in 24 so I thought I’d give them a play through to catch up. Still good.

Yeah, same here. I’m not nearly as active here as I was on reddit, but there’s not as much going on here and activity feeds itself. It’s fine, I read more books.

Yeah, old games often get overlooked but they kind of laid the foundations for much of what we had today. I remember spending a lot of time on elite, back in the 80s. It seemed so impressive back then, and really it was an achievement considering the hardware was BBC micro computers.

Homeworld. Really effective soundtrack, heightened tension and the feeling of being out in empty space.

I used to use Facebook a lot but gave that up a few years ago. Pretty much quit twitter since it went downhill. Social media platforms aren’t actually as addictive as we think they are.

I did. Said I’d be leaving when they did the API thing and stuck with it. Missed reddit for a week and then moved on. Sync for Lemmy is fine. Lemmy is quieter but there’s also less bullshit.
