It’s definitely creating more of a case to defederate from it if it ever tries to federate
Did you read the article? I will point out that we have/are working on quantum safe encryption algorithms so this is kind of unecessary doom and gloom. I actually work in this area and tbh the algorithms are ready to be implemented whenever companies want to. NIST QSC competition: https://csrc.nist.gov/projects/post-quantum-cryptography
In fact algorithms like AES are still quantum safe as long as key sizes are increased sufficiently
I seem to remember similar comments a year and a half ago…
Why, because you say so?
This is just being obtuse and a bit of a cunt. You can’t expect not to have negative reprecusions as an affect of companies being allowed to just churn out as much AI generated shit as they can. Especially since you also say:
companies are already bound by lots of laws governing their behaviour and ultimately it’s their behaviour that is what’s important to control.
Please read what you’ve again but slowly this time. You’re saying you’re fine with all the other regulation, but it shouldn’t be done here cause of individual liberties when i’ve clearly stated free use can be specifically allowed for here…
Yes, because that means I can also use it without limit.
You’ve again stated your problem when i’ve given a more than sensible solution. Individual free use is fine, why would anyone want to stop you, individually or even with your friends, being creative? The problems comes when companies with huge resources, influence, and nefarious motives decide to use it. How about this time we get ahead of it instead of letting things get out of control then trying to do something about it?
I mean there has to be a price to pay here, we can’t have our cake and eat it unfortunately. Caveats like “individual use” could allow this type of use while prevent companies taking the piss.
You seem to be implying that the government is the ruling class too, which (I grant you) may at least in part be the case but at least they’re voted into place. Would you rather have companies that we have no control over realistically use it without limit?
Honest question, what would you see as a fair way to handle the situation?
I don’t think it should be allowed to be trained off any of this stuff for entertainment/art/etc. at all. Like the dream future of AI was all the shitty boring stuff handled for us so we could sit back, chill and focus on arts, real scientific research, general individual betterment etc.
Instead we have these companies trying to get them doing all the art and interesting things whilst we all either have no job, money, or good standard of living, or the dangerous / shitty jobs.
Right so don’t really know if this is bait… but that’s one kind of accent (and the tickest pronunciation at that) in ulster, specifically greater Belfast/co. Antrim and very few people speak that thick. For the most part they should be quite understandable from the perspective of anyone who consumes any English language media outside of only American or only London (RP) English. The number of times I have had people have trouble with my accent in Europe and then I ask them what they watched when learning English and the answer is American TV is astounding.
This is me getting on my wee podium now but I have a huge problem with the Americans and Brits for this, they marginalise the fuck out if our dialect, make fun of it for being unitelligible (after making no effort to understand it), and often deny it any legitimacy.
In reality Irish English is spoken by 5-7million people, as large as some dialects of European languages (eg. Austrian/swiss German, Belgian/Swiss French, etc) and if you learn French or German you still get some exposure to those dialects and if you out your mind to it understand it.
Here, I mean more the reaction to it, I sometimes cringe at the pronunciation or intonation in the way one would to nails on a chalkboard (the idiom can have more than one meaning or reaction attached to it)
Americans have trouble with any accent that isn’t the blandest, nails on chalkboard accent.
Once had one ask me if I was speaking English when I spoke to him (for context I am Irish, the north bit)
Copyright law is gaslighting at this point. Piracy being extremely illegal but then this kind of shit being allowed by default is insane.
We really are living under the boot of the ruling classes.
We already develop drugs and perform a lot of research with the first techniques, example device here: https://open-ephys.org/miniscope-v4/miniscope-v4
It looks quite grotesque when mounted on the mice mind you. The “flourescent molecules” are by far the coolest, just google GFP (green flourescent proteins) and optogenetics - basically force specific behaviours or genetic expression in a mouse by shining light in the area you injected the optogenetic anitbodies.
Edit: GORE/NSFW warning Heres a better photo of a mounted miniscope: https://francis.naukas.com/files/2019/02/Dibujo20190203-Open-source-UCLA-Miniscope-nature-methods-41592_2018_266_Fig1-768x449.png
This isn’t quite normal, usually at these facilities in the case of 15, 22, and 20 especially show that the workers are not carrying out proper regular assessment and that the criteria for euthanasia for excessive suffering looks to be far to high. I only know the case of how this kind if testing is handled with mice (from my partner, and in germany) and all three of these cases would have been euthanized much earlier, not left to live on for a year or even days. As usual with Musk, he tries to cut corners and it only ends up hurting people and in this case animals unecessarily.
