…dammit, that’s a good thought.
Have you ever considered that the Prime Directive is not only not ethical, but also illogical, and perhaps morally indefensible?

…dammit, that’s a good thought.

Well, that was certainly a low-stakes palate cleanser after last week’s more intense episode. Probably a little too low-stakes for my liking.
They seemed intent on inverting common tropes in this one:
The “arranged marriage” storyline didn’t play out in a way that we’ve really seen before.
Similarly, Darem’s overall arc of “I need to stop being such a people-pleaser so I can be my more authentic, dickish self” is…a twist.
Caleb and Genesis put any “will they/won’t they” plotlines to rest (though I suppose they could revisit it).
And Genesis’ deep, dark secret turned out to be…not that deep. As much as I appreciate the inversion and that she didn’t turn out to be a Species 10-C spy or something, I feel like we still don’t know enough about Genesis. We’re going to have to meet her dad to really get to the bottom of her character, I think.

We wanted to make sure there was lots of time to accumulate questions, but the Fediverse is unsurprisingly rising to the occasion.

What was the audition process like? Did you have any clue what you were auditioning for, or was it buried under 47 layers of secrecy?

+24 hours. But you can still be excited!

Much has been made about the expansive Starfleet Academy set, but have you done much location work so far? Are there any interesting places you can mention?

This is probably as good as you’re likely to get.

I don’t think that this is something that should be done without the explicit, case-by-case consent of the mod teams of both communities - the one hosting the original post, and the one to which it is being cross-posted.

My experience with modding an external community hasn’t been too bad, but it’s a very lightly used community, and there’s also a mod with a local account, which gives a certain level of safety.
I’ll chime in here - I don’t know if this is OP’s issue, but I have experienced issues in the past with being able to clearly tell which languages in the list are selected, and/or the selected language settings saving properly.
I haven’t played around with it in months, but at the time I thought maybe it was just my browser theme/system colour settings that were making it hard to tell exactly what was selected.
I agree with those who are saying that a list of possible languages with accompanying check boxes would be more intuitive than the current implementation.

Census complete. I ain’t going to Lemmy Jail. Not again.

Ah, I gotcha.

Each community has the power to restrict the languages used in that community.
I can’t speak to the effectiveness of the system, as I don’t really spend time in non-English communities, but it’s certainly a poorly-documented feature.

It ensures that people who can’t read your post (that is, they have that language deselected in their own account settings) won’t see it.

Yeah, it looks like you’re right.

It seems to work for me - it switches all replies to appear as top-level comments, and sorts everything by “Old.”
I watched the first few as a curiosity, but checked out after that.
Does anyone have kids in the target demographic that have seen it?
