I miss the $50 phones …
Now it’s a payment plan for X number of months for the phone - no interest on the amount, or a free (or reduced price, I think) of the phone if you have Y plan for Z months.
It’s a great game. The devs seem really chill on their discord server. I highly suggest people try this game out even if visual novels aren’t your usual genre of games.
I have an account on kbin.social, lemmy.world, and sh.itjust.works. They are all linked on my respective profiles. I mainly use this one because .world had some issues where I couldn’t view comments on the connect android app about a year ago so I just switched. I like the app interface because it reminds me of rifgp, so that’s why I’ve never given kbin a fair shake.
Memphis design for the colors and patterns, Y2K for the colorful translucent electronics, and Frutiger Aero for the GUIs.
I just bought myself a pair of parachute pants! They’re not nearly as loud as the wind breaker suits of the 90s and early 00s, but I love them.
The demo was fun. Apparently I’m a mediocre heartless monster.
I remember us having an Atari computer along with some Compac computer running DOS in the late 80s. The computers I grew up with were models that we got for free from my dad’s workplace whenever they upgraded. We ran Win 3.1 until about '98. Win 95 was prevalent in the house until the mid '00s. Due to my dad’s job, we always had a computer of some sort in the house.
The computers in my elementary school’s computer lab were Apple 2es - in the 90s.
I didn’t get a cellphone until around 2004/2005, and then it was a hand-me-down from my older sister. The Nokia 5110 - the brick, complete with extendable antenna.
Same here, but within the past year or so we’ve had to reverse course so we can stay within our grocery budget.
A single mouse will feed on a bird several times its size. Conservationists snapped a photo of one perched on the bloodied head of a wandering albatross chick. […] He said the birds have not developed the defense mechanisms to protect themselves against these unfamiliar predators and often sit there while mice nibble away at them. Sometimes multiple mice swarm over a bird.
Holy crap. Renewed fear of mice activated. I hope their plan goes as well as they’re planning. There’s no good solution here.
Blinkies - those small gifs that blinked to give the impression of glitter.
iframes - precursor to divs, but definitely added that “only works in IE” feel.
More contrast between font color and background image - it’s too easy to read.
12pt Times New Roman font - gotta squint to read and default font for everything
Flashy gif banner at your header and footer - bonus points if they’re the same image
All urls default to underlined blue and purple.
Mouse cursor with trails. The more sparkles, the better.
Clip art. Clip art everywhere.
It’s a thing. It’s a disgusting thing, but it’s a thing. I remember, almost 30 years ago, my parents picking out a double wide trailer and they had to check a box to NOT get carpet in the bathrooms.
I don’t have one place I work at. My job requires I travel so I do a lot of driving (minor perk is I get paid milage and drive time). I normally work at two locations each workday, and it’s not uncommon for me to commute over 100 miles round trip. Until recently I was only working two days a week, and now it’s between three to four days depending on what I have to do.
Disclaimer: I don’t get paid nearly enough and am trying to find work closer to my rural residence. Corporate doesn’t want to give raises either.
Some people started singing it not knowing what it was
And they’ll continue singing it forever just because …
I’ve played some of Cassette Beasts and I’m really enjoying it! It’s Pokemon + Bravely Default with some cassette retro futurism thrown in.
Hi. I’m a millennial raising gen z and gen alpha children.
I swear this was in RvB. It’s completely on par with what they’d say.
Some have the sizes denoted as letters on them. Mine had an S for Small. Others had Ms, Ls, and a few XLs.
I clean my Samsung watch with a wet wipe (the kind you use on human skin - like a baby wipe or “flushable” wipe – which isn’t, never flush those things), and dry the face/underside with a smooth microfiber cloth. The band I have is some form of leather, so yrmv.
My skin can’t stand silicone bands so I stick to metal or leather.
