Vampires, The Masquerade: Bloodlines. The whole vibe of the setting, the story, the locations, and then when I finally understood what the plot was really about. Masterpiece of a game, couldnt stop thinking about it.
Between the time when the oceans drank Atlantis, and the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an age undreamed of.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is surprisingly good. Surtur’s theme is one of the best boss themes ive ever heard. I also really like using the Battle Brothers ost for my Pathfinder games.
Same. People like to call it a groundbreaking open world game when its exactly like all the others: a big world filled with the same few activities copy pasted over and over.
Its probably a common answer, but “Measure of a Man” from Star Trek: The Next Generation. It makes me hope for a future like that, where people can settle their problems by talking it out and debating, and even change their minds. Whenever I think about what Star Trek is really about, I think about Measure of a Man. Its such a shame Paramount’s Picard show disrespected it so badly.
Me and my family try to go to Cape May, New Jeresy every year. Been going there since I was a kid. Beautiful beaches, lots of great restaurants, its a fun time. Plus they have the best hot dogs on the East Coast: Hot Dog Tommy’s. He’s a really nice guy too (although he retired and now a new guy wears the hot dog hat).
A few weeks ago I also went to New Orleans. Amazing food, but The Simpson’s werent kidding about how bad it could be. The French Quarter really does smell like garbage 24/7, and it gets really busy and hectic at night. Reminds me of a tourist trap boardwalk. But I loved everything else about it, and the National WW2 Museum is there. Although the museum didnt go in depth as I thought it would, and they really focus on the U.S. A tour through there made me realize why so many Americans think we won the war single-handedly.
I remember finding a great subreddit called r/CharacterArt (or something like that). You could post character art mainly focused on dnd and other ttrpgs. I thought that was a great idea, and checked it out to find some cool art for my own Pathfinder game.
90% of the top post were women in revealing clothing.
I don’t think im qualified or knowledgeable enough to say why their games have been really bad, I can only give my opinion that they are. And because of that, I probably wont be coming back to buy their stuff.
Fallout has also been an absolute mess for a while. Fallout 4 and 76 were terrible games, and I personally dislike the new direction of the Bethesda games.
The ending of God of War: Ragnarok. Although I have some problems with the “mechanics” of the story (how they handled the prophecy is a bit silly) the emotional and thematic core of the story is A+. I got a bit teary eyed at multiple points in the game, and I almost cried at the ending. Kratos got the finale he deserved.
Honestly with how shit Bethesda has been, and my low opinion of Skyrim compared to the earlier Elder Scrolls games, i’m not that excited. Like all AAA games nowadays its gonna be a buggy and unplayable mess. And once it gets fixed, people will realize it wasnt even a good game in the first place.
Because they give you a Exp Share right off the bat, and it shares exp with ALL your pokemon. So theres no point to actually training.
You had me at “Freelancer the board game”. I love that game, and what you’re describing sounds fun as hell
Pathfinder 2e is pretty great, and an all around upgrade compared to 5e. If you need any Pathfinder 2e book pdfs just dm me
I would only ever run an “All-Evil Campaign” if all your players are very good and you trust them and/or you have some rules and guidelines to keep them focused. There is an excellent 3rd party Pathfinder adventure path called Way of the Wicked that pulls off the “All-Evil Campaign” really well. The party must be Lawful Evil, right from the get go the plot establishes a great reason why the party should be working together, and a diabolic contract makes sure they wont try any funny business with their boss.
Even though you’re not the DM, it still doesnt mean you cant talk to other players one-on-one and discuss their actions with them. They’re your friend (hopefully) so just bring up what problems you have and try to sort it out
When I was a kid I was super into pokemon. I loved playing the games and they stood out to me for one reason: they were challenging. My first game was Black, and I got stuck on the first gym leader for a few days, but when I figured it out it was immensely satisfying. I would hit roadblock, I would struggle, and eventually I overcame it. Then my friend introduced me to Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and it got even harder. I honestly think that the final dungeon of Explorers of Time made me smarter or something. It forced my dumbass child brain to think outside the box and find solutions on my own.
Then Pokemon X and Y released, and it was the most stupidly easy game ive ever played. And it kept getting easier after that. Add onto that the worsening quality and I stopped caring about Pokemon. My friend who is really into Pokemon hasnt bought a new game in years, he only plays Romhacks or replays the old games.
Ill check out the LotR And Star Wars games, those seem pretty neat. But honestly, I don’t think the DnD dungeon-crawler board are very good. They’re still pretty fun, but way to many pieces and far too difficult at times.
A couple of my friends have Tabletop Simulator, and we need to get together to play Atmosfear. Saw a video about it and the idea is so interesting
Hit the nail right on the head. Thats why I LOVE all this rn. I can make posts and comment and people reply with genuine responses (like you for example). I never wanted to comment because it would just get drowned in the sea of recycled ideas. Plus all the bots which made me paranoid about doing anything. A part of me hopes that Lemmy stays like an old school forum/message board forever, because i’m really enjoying this.
Oh yeah we’re all Pathfinder players lol. Every board game and ttrpg becomes a puzzle that we have to solve with the resources available. So when the game isnt exactly balanced, its not as fun for us.
I think it’s been in development hell for years, and the only screenshots ive seen make it look like a visual novel. Not hyped for it.
